Soulpaw stopped at the crest of a hill. Her paws rubbed on the grass. She enjoyed the feeling of it's slippery texture. Her heart thudded softly in her chest and she pranced in a small circle until she found a spot where she got the most traction. When she did, the apprentice paused.
I wonder why Haggerstar seems so nervous Soulpaw wondered. She looked at her mentor curiously and shrugged her shoulders. What ever was bother the leader would have to stay a secret.
"So Haggarstar, what is the first battle move you are going to teach me?" She asked as she stretched her muscles in the sunshine.

As Haggarstar watched the apprentice stretching in the sun, she had to thank StarClan for the sun's warmth. Her eyes still on the field, she told her apprentice casually, "I am ordering you to attack me." As she said that, her yellow eyes glinted like a smiling demon.

She glanced at her mentor. It didn't seem right to her to attack her, but, at her leader's consent, she did. Her muscles in her hind legs tightened and she dug her back paws into the ground as she jumped at her mentor.

Haggarstar dodged the expected jump. As she turned, she saw her apprentice there. She smiled, "Try again." It was hard not to smile because she remembered her very first fighting training when she was an apprentice like Soulpaw. She hoped that Soulpaw would not find this a bit annoying. If she did, then too bad. She had to learn. "Attack."

When Soulpaw landed she turned sharply on her heel. She did not expect for the ground to be so slippery from the morning dew, and slipped. Her indigo eyes widened as her slim body lurched forward. Her chin hit the ground hard and there was a soft crack, but it did not feel too too bad, so she stood up. Quickly shaking it off, she regained her footing and turned to her mentor when an idea came to mind.
Act Hurt. She smiled ever so slightly before twisting her face into a look of pain. "Ow ow ow." She meowed, holding her paw up to her chin.

Haggarstar suddenly felt this sudden pang of protection for the apprentice. She have not felt this way for a long time. With no experience being a mother herself, she always felt that she missed something in the life. Kits were no longer an option for the black furred feline because of her essential, valuable position in DawnClan. Soulpaw was hurt...Haggarstar told herself to steady herself, not to panic. Padding closer to Soulpaw, she asked softly, "Do you need help?"

Soulpaw nodded. "Yeah, I think so." As she straightened herself up, she silently bunched her muscles. She turned towards her mentor, with her head down to hide her silent smile.
Finally, it was time.
She let out a yowl and launched herself at her leader. putting her paws out in front of her, she aimed to push her mentor over. Her plan had worked, now she only hoped that she had worked quick enough.

Before Haggarstar knew what was going to happen, she was too late to stop her from pushing her backwards. Falling back, her back hit the grasses. The grasses reacted to the force by swaying back and forth, sending a ripple of pattern across the field. With a soft grunt of approval, Haggarstar smiled. Soulpaw was taking advantage of this and she was excited. The apprentice was clever enough to sustain this move and Haggarstar now knew not to underestimate this cat. As she staggered to her paws, she grinned, "That was a sly move, Soulpaw."

Soulpaw curled in her as she was praised. "Really Haggerstar? Thanks." She purred. Her tail waved back and forth for a moment as she thought of what her mentor could retaliate with.

"Yes, you have done really well. Now it is my turn." Without any time left for the apprentice to prepare, the leader pushed on her long hindlegs in order to make a purrfect circle with high speed. Perfecting this trick took moons in Haggarstar's warrior training. This was not fair, yes, but she wanted to teach Soulpaw as much as she could. Spinning around Soulpaw twice, Haggarstar took Soulpaw's paws with her tail, slapping her down lightly. In a real battle, Haggarstar would dive in for a death bite at the neck of the enemy. When she was done, yellow eyes were glistening in the afternoon sun. This move only took less than a second.

Soulpaw lurched forwards once more as her mentor flipped her. She stood up slowly and swayed on her feet for a moment as she closed to eyes to stop the sensation. When she opened her eyes once more she looked at her mentor for a moment, silent. After a moment she began to shake. "That. Was. Awesome!"

The leader only smiled with her lips closed. "You can do this." She showed Soulpaw how to do this tricky move by redoing the act with slow action. "You have to perfect a circle around the enemy. Learning the enemy's size is tricky. Over the time, you will assume well by trusting your instincts. Meanwhile, when you spin halfway, you use your tail as a hook around the enemy's four paws." She quietly instructed with a cautious look. "Come on, let's try this on me."

Soulpaw nodded and tried to copy Haggerstar's movements. Even though she was biting her lip in frustration, the apprentice just couldn't get it right. "Oh Haggerstar, I can't do it, I just can't!" She huffed, sinking to the ground in despair.

"Let's see if you are right about that," Haggarstar meowed softly. The sun was coming down quickly. The day was too beautiful to be gone very soon. After all, the air was still warm. It was odd since there was no wind here. It was a rare day. Usually, everyday was a windy day.
Haggarstar did not want to waste one minute. She used her encourgment smile in order to convince Soulpaw to do this neat trick. The leader knew that Soulpaw could do this, only if she ignore this negative thought.

{its okay, but i'm museless D;}
"Okay, Haggerstar, if you say so." Soulpaw muttered as she slowly lifted herself back onto her paws. She stretched her legs once more before readying herself.

[Maybe when we are done with this thread, I could start a new thread in DawnClan camp for Soulpaw's warrior ceremony. Is that a good idea?] Haggarstar caught every tiny move. The young cat seemed tense. This was not a good idea to be tense because you could mess up more swiftly and easily. Haggarstar thought Soulpaw will figure this out very soon. To let her to learn the lesson herself. Patiently waiting for the apprentice to attack, Haggarstar thought what to do tonight. Maybe after this practice, she should let Soulpaw rest before taking her out to hunting tomorrow. Now that was a good idea.

{Sure, sounds good}
Soulpaw's movements were jerky and stiff as she circled Haggerstar, but she kept trying until the last movement of wrapping her tail around the other cat's paws. She attempted to do that with Haggerstar at the moment. Come on Soulpaw, you can do it, you can do it. The apprentice tried to reassure herself the best she could.

Haggarstar simply jumped high in the air on all four paws. In the corner of her vision, she saw her apprentice's tail swooshing across the empty ground. An involuntary smirk was switched on her frowning face. As she landed, she glanced at Soulpaw, "Nice try. Try again. One more time."

"Okay, but you better not go easy on me." Soulpaw said, lashing her speckled tail back and forth to rid it of a dry leaf that had hooked itself into her fur. The apprentice first took no more then a second or too to make a quick plan before lunging forwards, turning to circle her mentor. This time, her movements were more fluid, and smooth. Her tail came down quickly and tried to entwine itself around the leader's front paws.

Zephyrwind's face was a blur in her vision, distracting her for a breaktakingly second. Time was precious. You cannot waste half a second to the enemy. Things could go terribly wrong in less than a half of second. The leader made a mistake, lending her apprentice that second. Soulpaw's tail wrapped itself lovingly around her paws, causing her to curse. As she crashed on the ground, Haggarstar's fighting instincts punched in. She pushed Soulpaw away.

Soulpaw tried to jump away, but instead found Haggerstar's paws hitting her side and herself tumbling through the air. Stand up, the apprentice spit out grass and dirt that had gotten into her mouth when her breath had been knocked out. Paw scrambled as Soulpaw got up. She panted heavily and black blobs blocked her vision. So, it was true, instinct was stronger then anything else. She thought quietly to herself.

"I am very sorry," the leader exclaimed breathlessly. Black fur was cooling down from the calm air of the north winds. She scrambled on her four paws, her tail quivering a bit. Her fighting instincts made her frisky. It had been ages since she put her fighting skills to test. She hated fighting. Though, she wished for her apprentice to master the moves in order to defend herself from any enemy. "You okay in there?" Haggarstar's voice was full of concern. "Though, you did a great job."
