A small kit twisted and turned in his makeshift nest of reeds. Even though it was greenleaf, the evenings and nights were still chilly, despite the humidity. And Hollow couldn't fall asleep. He could feel his two brother's bodies next to him: Ghost's large one to his left, and Zero's smaller one at his head. The three were outcasts of a sort --rogues. None of them knew much of their mother --she died when they were barely a moon old-- and the all knew nothing of their father. Somehow, the three had survived for almost three moons on their own. Hunting for food wasn't too hard for Hollow. With their 'camp' just below an old twoleg bridge, just on the banks of a river, it was simple for the cats to just dip their paws in and grab a fish. For Hollow, it seemed like it was burried in his blood. The little tom sighed and got up from his nest, trying not to wake his littermates. Again, there was that strange tugging at his chest. Something was pulling him deeper into MistClan --he had heard some of the Clan cats that had come near them say it-- territory. Slowly, Hollow inched out from under the old bridge, choosing his pawsteps carefully. Opening his mouth slightly, the black-and-white tom scented the air. Someone was coming. Despite his instinct telling him to dart back under the bridge, something in his chest made Hollow stand his ground.

The sky was foggy, which was quite unusual in the middle of green-leaf. The atmosphere was chilly as the water vapors slowly receded as the day grew. A long, gray furred she-cat padded through the mist, her calm blue eyes watching ahead of her as she neared the bridge. Tundraheart let out a small sigh, reflecting on what has happened in her Clan. They've experienced so much... She still felt the scars from the fight with Mistclan that Demonstar had so foolishly sought to fight with. Tundraheart couldn't forget the shock of learning Demonstar to be a traitor that killed Duskstar. And now, Puddlestar has returned to bring Mistclan up to its feet. The Mistclan warrior just hoped things would look brighter.
Suddenly, through the mist, she spotted a small sihlouette of a figure, which made her instantly tense. She opened her jaws and was met with an unfamiliar scent....yet, something told her it was something she recognized, but couldn't remeber what it was.
Highly alert now, her claws unsheathed. "Who's there?"she meowed aloud, her voice as cold as the air around them.

Hollow thought fast, weighing his options. If he woke his brothers and swam the river, he knew the cat wouldn't come after him. But the same tugging told him not to. He breathed deep, thinking hard.
"If you wish to know one's name," he called out, hoping the other cat couldn't hear his voice shaking as much as he could, "it is best to tell yours first." Primly, and almost content with himself, Hollow sat down on the damp ground, curling his tail around the black half of his body. He knew he wouldn't have much trouble with this cat if he played his cards right. After all, he had his two brothers with him. If this cat wanted a fight --which he doubted it would, seeing as it was a she-cat, and they were three 'poor, helpless' kits-- she would be outnumbered. The three could fight --perhaps not as well as this she-cat, but fight all the same. On the other paw, the she-cat might try to take them back to the MistClan camp. For a brief moment, Hollow felt his heart leap. That was what the tugging had wanted. He belonged there for some reason. Maybe the cat taking them back wouldn't be a bad thing.

Her eyes narrowed, no emotion showing. She took a few steps forward until the cat's shadow become more vivid. A kit?" Tundraheart was caught by surprise. Perhaps alone?she wondered. Her ear flickered at his bold statement and her tail swished the grass behind her. Tundraheart was silent before answering in the same, cold tone. "Tundraheart, warrior of Mistclan."

Tundraheart...Hollow could she her shape now. Just like most of the Mistclan cats she had seen, she was just a bit on the pudgey size. If there was going to be a fight, that would slow her down. He stood up, walking a bit closer to her. "Well, Tundraheart of Mistclan, I am Hollow. I have no clan --I go where I please." He thought briefly about mentioning his brothers and Shadow, the somewhat more-than-familiar cat that had joined up with them, but decided against it. If he told her now, then they wouldn't have the element of surprise for a fight. "What do you want with me?"

A Pure black tom awoke, not far from where the other two kits had layed. His hard yellow eyes blicked once, scanning the makeshift den with a lash of his tail. He had met them, three moons ago, padding along a path that led to another clan. At first, he didn't want to deal with kits that were a moon younger then him but because of the scar on his right side and a torn ear, he thought they would died before even getting a chance to live. He had chose to travel with them, but somehow, found it hard to leave them when the time came. He had this feeling for quite a few moons and as he rose to his paws, found it more annoying then a bug in his face. Hissing low, he noiced one of the kits missing and narrowed his eyes.
"Hollow." He mewed, his voice harsh and with a edge. That tom, was the most clever and seemed to think almost the same way as him. But this thought meant nothing to him and slowly padded out the run down place to find him. Careful not to make a sound, Shadow lurked around bushes and fallin logs, even moving under the old bridge without a sound and soon found the tom sitting down with his black tail warpped around him. But another scent made Shadow's yellow eyes harden, a scent of a clan cat and hissed low. Lashing his tail, the black tom came up behind Hollow with his eyes narrowed once more.
"Who is this...Hollow." He meowed, even though his voice still didn't lose it's edge.

Tundraheart's gaze didn't leave Hollow as she leered at him. "Well, Hollow. You're old enough to know that you're in Clan territory now. It is supposed to be my duty to drive intruders away,"she meowed softly, her tone still cold and calm. However, the she-cat made no movement that suggested she was about to attack. Instead, her mind was contemplating. This tom..seemed...familiar. The head shape looked distinctly like a cat Tundraheart knew. But for now, the she-cat couldn't remember who.
Her eyes shifted ahead of Hollow as another small sized tom appeared. She noted the young tom's scars and hardened eyes, imagining this tom had been through some hardships. Yet, despite the scar, he looked a little bit like Hollow.
"I see you're not alone,"she hissed quietly to Hollow, her gaze trained on Shadow.

Zero's eyes snapped open as he felt the cold surround him. Sitting up, he noticed that two of the three cats he fell asleep beside were not there. Narrowing his blue-green eyes, Zero began to wash his white leg, the leg that used to be the same color as the rest of him. Originally, only his paw was white, then it gradually shifted to his entire leg. Ignoring those thoughts, Zero flicked his tail over Ghost's nose. "Where is everyone?" He asked his brother, wondering where Hallow and Shadow had gotten to. Zero growled quietly, Ghost was asleep and there was no one in sight. Flicking his ears, Zero padded away from his brother. If Hallow had gone of on his own, that was probably the most stupid thing he'd done yet. Being so close to another cats territory was dangerous, and most cats were able, and willing, to defend theirs with their life.
Jaw breaking out into a yawn, Zero followed his brother's scent, learning that it was very fresh. Zero also noticed that Shadow had taken a similar route to Hallow's. Quickening his pace, Zero saw three dark figures in the distance. Narrowing his eyes, he noticed that one was his brother, the other was Shadow and the third was an unknown cat. Lowering him self to the ground, Zero heard the cat speak. 'I see you are not alone.' No he wasn't. Zero bunched up his legs, ready to leap, but stopped him self in time. A surprise attack is much more efficient. Staying where he was, Zero waited for the right moment to reveal him self.

Sensing his brother near him, Hollow flicked his tail in warning. Stay where you are, Zero, he thought. If this turns into a fight, we're going to need you. But now Shadow was with him as well. Even with just the three of them, without Ghost waking up --which Hollow doubted he would, the big lug-- they had a better chance then before. "No," he mewed bravely, stepping closer to Shadow, claws unsheathing. "I'm a lot less alone then you think you are." For some reason, this cat didn't seem to get the fact that Hollow didn't want to fight. Perhaps...Perhaps he wasn't playing his cards right... The kit softened his voice, and rose the pitch. "And I know this is clan territory, but where else can I go?" Hollow drenched his tone with whiney helplessness, hoping that the she-cat would take them in. "I'm only just a little lost kit...I don't know where my Daddy is, and my Mommy's dead..." Quickly, he flicked his ear at Shadow and whispered in his ear just loud enough for the black tom to barely hear. "Just play along. If we get this cat to think we're lost or helpless, she might take us back to the Clan. They have plenty of food there and I doubt we'd have to catch it ourselves."

Shadow caught the scent of yet another cat, but one he could reconise as Hollow's brother and nearly let out a low growl as the black and white tom stepped closer to him. It was bad enough that he had to travel with them, being that he traveled alone for some moons. Hollow's brother, Zero he didn't really care about much and as for Ghost, well, the same feeling as always. Shadow's hard yellow eyes never left the she-cat, which he judged as too fat and slow. But learning from a short kithood that gone horrebly wrong, even cats that look fat would move quick if they want to. And with Shadow, that was all the time.
His pure black pelt seemed to raise alittle, the tip of his tail fur pointing straight like spikes and he slightly showed his small but sharp white teeth, making a low hissing sound. His hissing, however, only stopped for a moment as Hallow whispered his plan in his ear. He flicked his right ear, narrowing his eyes and hissed again. "Play long? I rather die." He spoke harshly, but quiet enough for only Hollow to hear and lashed his tail. "But....I'll go along with this. Don't except me to act cute." The black tom added, glancing at the tom through narrowed eyes before mangeing to calm himself and turned his sight back to the she-cat, his eyes now fully open.
"Won't you help us? We're lost and scared...You wouldn't attack a helpless kit..Would you?" He purred, though his helpless voice masked his sly and harsh nature. His eyes even showed that he was indeed helpless, but hid the stone heart that could easly turn deadly.

The Mistclan she-cat wasn't easily fooled. She has smelled a faint scent of a new cat, though the fog made it hard to pinpoint where. Did these kits expect to be able to overpower me?she thought with slight amusment, and a little admiration for the kits' courage. Tundraheart noted that the darker furred tom seemed more aggressive than the other. She was prepared for this tom to attack, but noticed a slight exchange of words between the two. And suddenly, both seemed to be more subdued.
"Perhaps I wouldn't,"Tundraheart replied softly to Shadow. "But I can't let just any kits into our camp,"she added with a slight flick of her tail.
"Perhaps you should tell your friends to all come out,"the she-cat meowed, nodding her head towards the cat that layed hidden in the dense fog. "Then we can discuss what'll happen next."

w h i t e - e y e s Blind the she-cat may have been, but stupid she was not. Hunting a not too far from where Tundraheart was, she lifted her head and scented her. Intrigued, the female padded over, and paused. She sensed the kits and felt a shiver go down her spine - strange. It was as if she knew who they were. She padded over. "Tundraheart, what have you found." the pale eyes looked at the fuzzy, large figure that was Tundraheart, then gazed down upon the kits. "Kits." she mused, flicking her ears. "Well, as the warrior code states, we must help kits in need. Tell me your names little ones. I am White-eyes, deputy of MistClan - I'm sure Puddlestar will let you in our clan, though there will be cats who will be wary of you - they may not take kindly to you joining our clan. We are still on edge after we found our previous leader was a murderer and a liar."

The new cat --White-eyes-- seemed more understanding than Tundraheart. With a flash of realization, Hollow figured that maybe it was because White-eyes had one been a mother. It made sense. He flicked his tail towards Zero. With this new cat here, they wouldn't have any problem. "I'm Hollow," he said, shaking in his paws once again. "The cat over there in hiding is my brother, Zero, and the one next to me is Shadow --no known relation. My second brother is still asleep, in the reeds there; Ghost."

White-eyes? Shadow thought, scanning the MistClan deputy from her head to her tail and flicked his tail in his way of saying hello. Although, his anger was still toward the other she-cat, glancing over at Tundraheart with a short but strong glare before turning his attenion back to White-eyes. The pure black tom noiced that the deputy was indeed blind, her eyes almost comptlely white but also noiced that the she-cat's hearing was sharp. Shadow had be careful with this one, even though the she-cat's voice was calm, it could easly mark a way to attack or even scar a kit. Flicking his ear as what Hollow had said, Shadow wondered what was going through both Zero and Hollow's mind, if they were indeed scared. For the black tom however, he was calm, furious but calm and not one inch of fear showed in his eyes. This time, he chose to stay silent and lay low for a bit, to see what would happen.

Zero watched the encounter with narrowed eyes, his brother and Shadow were introducing them selves. 'The cat over there in the reeds hiding is Zero.' In hearing his own name, Zero stood up slowly and walked into the clearing. Keeping his eyes on the new comer, White-Eyes, she was a deputy, meaning she was close to being leader. Narrowing his eyes, he padded next to his brother and nodded at the Mistclan cats.
Joining Mistclan? That would be a different experience. All of his, short, life he had been avoiding the cats who lived here. "Ghost is sleeping heavily." Zero mewed to Hallow, "I'm going to wake him up." Padding away, Zero thought about living in Mistclan.

Hollow nodded curtly to his brother. Of course Ghost was sleeping heavily. The big kit almost never did anything else except cause trouble. But Hollow was worried. White-eyes had said that some of the cats wouldn't take well towards them. And with his brother and Shadow acting the way they were, then maybe it wasn't the best idea for them to join the Clans... Frozen in thought, Hollow sat quietly on the dampening ground. If he forced the other cats to join them, then he could very well be alone in the clan... Finally, he turned his head just slightly towards Shadow. "Listen," he explained, "if you don't want to come with me and join this clan, then you don't have to. You can take Ghost and Zero and keep on being rogues. But for me, I feel like I need to do this --like something in MistClan is calling me." Again, the tom kept his voice as low as possible. For all Tundraheart and White-eyes needed to know, Hollow was just a lost and hungry kit. They didn't need any other reasons to take him in.

w h i t e - e y e s "No need to fear me, Shadow. It is against the warrior code to harm kits - I am a mother myself and love my daughter dearly and would never dream of hurting a kit. You need not fear Tundraheart either - she follows the warrior code like all of our clan." the blind cat meowed. Indeed, she could feel the sleep coming off of Ghost. Hollow seemed intent on joining MistClan. "Well, Hollow, if you wish to join, I'm sure there will be a queen willing to take you under her wing to teach you the warrior code. If Shadow, Zero and Ghost do not wish to join MistClan, then they may stay here, and our offer will stand - however, if you remain rogues and grow older, we will drive you off our territory." said White-eyes, the utmost seriousness in her voice. "Tundraheart, if you would take Hollow to camp - and send a warrior back - I don't care who." [/blockquote]

Shadow tilited his head to Zero, giving a small nod to the tom before turning his head back to the two MistClan cats and slowly, a thought of amusment crossed his mind. He always wondered how clans worked, their little family ways, being together and such. White-eyes even mentioned the Warrior Code, which made the black tom even more amused then before. He thought about this for a few moments more, until he heard Hollow's voice and flicked his ear ever so slightly to listen.
After Hollow had finished, Shadow somehow, wanted to claw the tom in his face or shove his face into the ground. At first, it would've been a good Idea to leave them alone and move on. But that same feeling came over him and once again, he couldn't seem to shake it off and hissed low in annoyence."If you think I would let you walk alone with those Mouse-brains, you have another thing coming." Shadow growled low, to keep his voice from being heard by the two she-cats. "And I know for a fact, that Zero and your lazy lug for a brother, would never leave you either. And no, I'm not doing it because I'm nice about it. I'm doing it to find out why they love their Code so much." He added, glancing at the white and black tom with an annoyied look in his eyes. But something else showed in his eyes that was rare for him, almost as if it was a hint of pride, barely showing through a wall of yellow stone. Finishing his words, he lashed his pure black tail and half closed his eyes.

they're just ghostright && In his sleep, Ghost shivered. It woke him up. His brothers werent there. Where were they? Slowly he rose. He was a little annoyed they went off without him.
At first he thought he should go look for them, then his stomache growled. so he decided to go hunt. It was too misty out for him to fish, he wouldnt be able to see a fish long enough.
He gave his light gray coat a lick, then stood sniffing for a scent. The warm scent of a mouse floated taintilisingly by his nose. He followed the scent away from the den and into the mist.
He had walked for a second before he realized he had crossed into the clan cats territory. He had caught Hollow looking at it several times, and mutter a thing or two about it. MistClan Ghost had heard. He snorted. Hollow needed to stay away from there.
It occured to him, he might want to get away from this clans territory, but he heard a few cats talking amoungst themselves, so he continued onward.
He approached a long grey furred she-cat and ginger and black tabby from behind quietly. He watched his paw steps to remain unheard and unseen. Who where these cats? Suddenly, Hollows scent and Shadows scent reached him. He looked over and they were there too. Wheres Zero? he wondered noticing he was gone.

Zero growled in annoyance as he padded towards where his brother should be. Sniffing Ghost's sleeping place, Zero noted that he was there very recently, where as his own nest was already turning stale. Following his brother's trail Zero heaved a sigh. Why couldn't Ghost just still be asleep? That would make things that much easier. Surprised, Zero followed Ghosts trail back to the clearing where he came from. "That was a big waste of time." He muttered, seeing his brother behind White-eyes and Tundraheart.
Rolling his eyes, Zero padded out back into the clearing. As he past Ghost he meowed, "They invited us into their clan." Flicking his tail on Ghosts ears as he went past. Going back to stand next to Hallow, he began to wash his white paw again, it had become covered in dirt. Walking through marshes wasn't exactly his idea of a fun time. "He's over there." He mewed, flicking his tail forward, to where the spot Ghost was. "Already awake."

Nodding to his smaller brother, Hollow turned to face White-eyes and Tundraheart, straining his eyes to see past them. It was hard, but he could just barely see Ghost's shape.
"If you don't mind, White-eyes, I'd like to wait until my brothers make up their minds. The eldest of us three is behind you now, the mousebrain." The tom felt his claws sheathe and unsheathe. His stupid brother! Always thinking for himself --and then ending up in trouble because of it! "He would be Ghost," he hissed, raising his voice so that his pale grey brother could easily hear him, "and he's going to get his rear over here by the rest of us so that you can get a good look at him."
And so he doesn't ruin my chance, Hollow added silently to himself. If the she-cats didn't bring him in because of Ghost, he would rip that cat to shreds, even if he himself died doing so.

Shadow held back a chuckle of amusment, his hard yellow eyes shifted from Hollow to Zero and then to Ghost, who was behind White-eyes and Tundraheart. He had to admit, Ghost was indeed a Mouse-brain at times and his size didn't help him at all much. His right ear twitched, still alittle annoyied by Hollow's tone but ignored it and turned his head to White-eyes.
"Well. I for one say, If Hollow goes, I will go with him." He meowed, Turning his head and narrowed his eyes at Zero and Ghost with a lash of his tail."I hope you two make the right choice." He added with a growl.

Zero flicked his tail with annoyance. He wasn't going to be scared into anything, he didn't get scared. Glaring at Shadow he mewed to the cats around him. "I decided earlier, that I would join." He would not let Shadow believe that he was intimidated by him, being a moon older meant nothing to Zero. "Ghost?" He mewed, looking to his other brother. "What do you choose?" Zero already knew the answer, there was no way Ghost would be able to live alone, no matter how strong he was. The three of them, even without Shadow, could survive, but only because they had each other. Surviving alone, without anyone to help, would be stupid.

((Sorry i'm late >.<)) Tundraheart had already scented White-eyes approach from behind but, though the mist, didn't see her until the deputy was beside her. The gray and black she-cat gave a nod of greeting, knowing that even though White-eyes was blind, she had sharp senses. When White-eyes suggested taking the kits back to camp, the long-furred she-cat's tail gave a slight twitch and muttered to White-eyes. "Are you sure we should? Our Clan is still rebuilding after...Demonstar. And greenleaf is at its peak so prey is starting get hard to come by. Will we be able to support all these kits?" Although Tundraheart meant no cruelty, she felt there was suspicious about those kits... Another young kit appeared, who Tundraheart assumed to be the last one. She noticed he had a slight, sleepy look in his eyes as if he had just awakened. Once again, there was a slight...familiar appearance about all those kits...

I would take it upon myself to teach them the warrior code and assign a warrior or two to hunt for them." White-eyes meowed. She could sense Tundraheart's uncertainty. She turned around and spoke into Tundraheart's ear. "Is something the matter, Tundraheart?" [/blockquote]

Tundraheart listened to White-eye's reasoning, giving a noncommental nod of agreement.
"Is something the matter, Tundraheart?" The she-cat hesitated, stealing a glance at the young kits. Something about their appearance just nagged her like a burr of her pelt that she couldn't dislodge. Perhaps White-eyes couldn 't analyze their appearance because of her blindness. Tundraheart was about to explain but changed her mind. "It's nothing,"she muttered, with a swish of her tail in a dismissive way. "I'm probably just too tense."

they're just ghostright && Ghost snorted at Zero. "Why didnt you wake me up instead of leaving me?" he cocked his head and grunted. "Their den? Why would we want to?" he sniffed eyeing the two warriors suspiciously. He sat and glared at Hollow. " I can introduce my own self thank you."
He listened to Shadow, then looked at Zero and snapped his head back like he was slapped. "Chosen yet?" he looked from Zero and Hollow to the warriors. "Go with them? To their den?"
He thought about it. He'd be with his brothers, but away from freedom. He almost said no, but something else compelled him to say he'd come. " I'll come. But only for my brother." He said the the warriors.

Hollow nodded to his brothers, almost smiling a bit. But inside, he felt like crying. His brothers hadn't exactly wanted to come to Mistclan. They only did so because he wanted to. He let out a prolonged sigh, then locked eyes with White-eyes.
"Then we've all decided. We will join your clan, White-eyes, you don't need to worry about having warriors hunt for us. We can do that ourselves --and quite well, might I add." He half-smiled for the she-cat, wanting to ease Tundraheart's worries. Something about them scared her, as well as something about this 'Demonstar'.
Hollow decided to keep his mouth shut about not having a father. [/blockqutoe]

Shadow glared back at Zero, his eyes more hardened then ever but hissed under his breath and turned his head to Ghost with a lash of his tail. He didn't really about Zero much, even though that tom look almost like him and anger wise as well. But the pure black tom didn't pay it any mind, as he listened to ghost agree as well, after the big tom thought it over for what seemed like moons.
But when he sensed Tundraheart being tensed, his hard yellow eyes glowed slightly with wonder and with this mention of Demonstar, a smile crossed his face. Now that smile was not a normal, sly smile. No, this was a smile that seemed unnautral and...evil almost. But that smile quickly vaished, as he turned his head back to the three toms.
"Yes. We can hunt for ourselves." He calmly, licking his chest hairs a few times before looking at the two MistClan cats before them.

Tundraheart had sat down and waited for the young cats to decide. Her tail swished the leaves back and forth behind her, her thoughts preoccupied though her frosty eyes remained on the kits. Finally, the four cats turned and expressed their agreement. Her ear twitched when they mentioned they could hunt for themselves and her eyes narrowed. "Perhaps you young kits can hunt. But in our Clan, you must be apprentices first and learn our way of hunting and fighting,"the long-furred she-cat explained.
