Hawktalon squeezed into the nursery. It was an entrance meant for lithe cats, not his broad-shouldered body. His son, Ravenkit was heading to Mistclan to avoid the fighting between Moonclan and Fireclan. His sister, Tabbypelt, was going to pick up Ravenkit at the border to prevent a fight. After that, she would care for him. Whispering softly into the dark, Hawktalon called his son. "Ravenkit, wake up, we're leaving." Ravenkit was curled up on the floor of the nursery, having been told to rest by his mother, Petalwhisper. He bounced to his feet at the sound of his father's voice. "Ok dad, I've said goodbye already., so we can go now!"
His enthusiasm made Hawktalon both glow with pride and ache with sorrow. He would be the next cat on the goodbye list, and that was never how Hawktalon had wanted it to be. That wasn't urgent now though, they must go or Twilightstar would begin to question their motives, leaving the camp with a kit. "Come on, let's head out. Your aunt is waiting for us, hurry!" He grabbed up his son by the scruff and carried him swiftly outside camp, then rtaced as fast a she could with a kit in his mouth towards the border.
Tabbypelt had told him of a bridge that was made of wood and stone and was old and creaky, easy to see. He was to bring Ravenkit there, meet up with her, and go back to camp. That would be the last time they saw eachother for a while, unfortunately. Forcing back a choking cry, Hawktalon padded on, until the bridge was in sight. There was his sister, waiting for him, and for his son. Setting Ravenkit down, Hawktalon allowed him to race up to greet his aunt. Reaching Tabbypelt's side, Hawktalon nodded respectfully. "Take care of him, he is a trickster."
His ears and face felt hot, and his throat was feeling like it was closed shut by pain. Noddig at his son for one last time, Hawktalon licked between his ears, purring softly. "I love you, you'll be a great warrior, I know it." he turned back to Tabbbypelt. "Thank you again, I appreciate it." Tabbypelt nodded back, then picked up Ravenkit and dissapeared.

Tabbypelt picked up Ravenkit and padded silently further into Mistclan territory. Her home was now her nephew's home. It would be good to have a distraction from her boring duties, good to get away with a secret exchange mission. Her cover story was that The kit had wandered onto their territory, saying he had been separated form his loner mother and wandered into the Moonclan camp, hence the cat smells on him.
It was a poor cover-up, she knew, but it would hopefully gain him admittance into the clan. Trotting calmly along, she wondered why he was being so quiet. Kits were usually talkative, weren't they? Purring softly to herself at the thought of a shy tom-kit, she didn't notice the scent of cat, floating towards her on the breeze. Whens he did, she stopped, fear rising in her belly.
She slowly set Ravenkit down, calling out quietly, in case it was just a passing patrol. The scent wasn't of the cats on morning patrol though, but she knew it from somewhere in the back of her head. "Who's there? I can smell you you know!" Waiting for a response, she felt the tension rise, until the scent grew stronger. Whoever it was, they were much closer now, and a bigger threat to her and Ravenkit.

Whose to know if your soul will fade at all The one you sold to fool the world
The day was just like any normal day. The sun hung high in the sky, though not quite at the point of sunhigh. A bird chirped somewhere far off and another answered it with it's own annoying warble.
A large tom picked his way through MistClan territory. His short black fur rippled over his growing muscles and the shimmered in the mottled sunlight. His paws crunched carelessly on the assorted reeds and plants, who cared if they died? He was so angry. With another snarl he unsheathed his claws and with a swipe, sent a small shell flying off. Demonstar was a fool. He had not heard from him in days, and the monster that inhabited him was growing restless. The old Fallowclaw, the one that had born into this world, was no more. Replaced by something else..something better.
He was not afraid to work for what he wanted. Cats would die. And he would enjoy it. The thought almost made him giddy, his red eyes burned even brighter. Suddenly a new smell was in the air, overlapping the strong scents of riverwater and damp earth. MistClan, they were definately MistClan. But..what was this? There was someone else too, they smelled of MoonClan. Fainty, but it was there. Just his luck, he would turn his claws red before the day was done. Let's play a game of cat and mouse.
His blood was like liquid fire, burning through his veins. Anticipation just about clouded his vision. "Who's there? I can smell you, you know!" Fallowclaw grinned and stepped out from behind a thick bramble. His dark fur still slightly camoflauged by the shadows. "Yes, I can see that you can smell me. "Now what are you doing out here alone, with this...kit?" He kept his voice silky and smooth, but there was no way to hide the vemon it held.
You should know that the lies won't hide your flaws No sense in hiding all of yours

Tabbypelt saw the tom slink out of the shadows, still half veiled. The minute she saw the dark look on his face and felt the anger blowing off him like sparks in the breeze, she knew he meant trouble and harm. Growling softly, she pushed Ravenlkit aside. She dared lean down to whisper in the tiny kit's ear. "Stay back, and do not come to help me, I'll be okay and stay in the bushes!" Ravenkit darted into the underbrush. Tabbypelt felt a powerful feeling well up inside her. Like a mother protecting her kits, she knew she must keep Ravenkit safe. He meant the world to her brother, and she would keep her promise and care for his son until he could return home.
She growled, knowing already the tom was after a tussle, and she would give him one, just to let him know she was not one to be toyed with. Advancing on the tom, she responded with an even tone to his question. "Well if you must know, I was taking him for a stroll, just to escape clan life and teach him things. He is not one of your concerns" Tabbypelt allowed a snarl of warning reach into her voice as she said the last words. This tom would go home knowing he had made a mistake, she would be sure of that.

We hit a wall, and we can't get over it Nothing to relive
He watched, with unblinking eyes, as she placed the kit down and out of the way. He was too far to exactly make out the words but as her lips moved he could make out more or less that she told kit to stay put. Now out of the she-cat's grasp--her name escaped him, like he cared-- he could fully take in the kit's scent. It was MoonClan, like he had scented earlier.
Fallowclaw twitched an ear. The little creatures build was of MoonClan, too. It was very faint but unless someone was looking for the exact features, they wouldn't have noticed it. By the looks of things it's MoonClanner scent would have vanished by the time they got to camp. but your not going back to camp, now are you, kitty He thought with a wiry grin. The raven-pelted tom stepped out into full view. His face was set into a smug mask as he sat down and neatly wrapped his tail around his large paws. He was like Death, with one hand on your heart and the other on his scythe.
He had to at least admire her courage. Putting the kit down ensured its own safely but put hers in jeopardy. Fallowclaw's red pools slid down to where the kit was. So innocent..so perfect for its life to end? Soft paw-steps indicated that she had advanced on him and he heard a growl escape her. So she does know something is up "Well if you must know, I was taking him for a stroll, just to escape clan life and teach him things. He is not one of your concerns" The tom knew better than to misjudge her even tone, and his thoughts were proven correct as he depicted a soft snarl behind those words.
Slowly, he angled his eyes back up to hers. Her name..her name.. Tortiepelt? Tabbyfur? ah, Tabbypelt. That was it. He shared the warrior den with her, and that's where the similarities ended. "A little stroll.. well then, how about a little detour?" His voice was velvet, though his eyes shone otherwise. "And...yes. That kit is one of my concerns. You are taking him to MistClan, no?" His deep voice never once broke but he drew back his own lips in a small snarl, showing the tips of his canines.

Tabbypelt growled more from fear than anger. This tom clearly meant trouble and harm, and he was definitely not going to let her off easy. She studied her surroundings for any escape routes. Averting her gaze from him for a moment, she noticed a tunnel-like space in the gorse. Maybe if she talked her way out of it, she could run off with Ravenpaw. She must act inconspicous first, then make a move. Clearing her throat, she met his clever, vile eyes, finding it difficult to look at them. She began to speak slowly and as calmly as her voice would allow. Her body was shivering slightly, but she forced back her terror and acted brave.
"I was taking him to Mistclan to meet his mother. She is of Mistclan, if you must know. He merely needed to see her for something." Tabbypelt immediately realized her mistake. She had left her lie open-ended, giving him the chance to ask what about, why, when, what location...this was punishment enough to know her leader was going to banish her for bringing in a troublesome mouth to feed, but now, she was sticking her neck out and had put Ravenkit at risk. If she got hurt, starclan save her, Ravenkit would get hurt too. He was too small to defend himself. "If you care enough, I wasn't willing to take a detour."
She spat her last comment, a rush of nauseating fear flowing over her. The tom looked so vile just sitting there with his eyes burning a hole in her heart. She must go. NOW. She stumbled over her paws and snatched up ravenkit. She was praying to starclan she would live. Something told her she wasn't going to escape unscathed. She whispered softly to Ravenkit, "It's okay, we're gonna run, alright? You'll see your father again, and things will be fine, just stay calm and we'll be okay..." She wasn't believing half of what she was telling him. She started to run, but stumbled on a small pebble. It stuck between her toes, painfully pushing them apart. She cried out and dropped Ravenkit a tail-length ahead of her. Now, she was in trouble.

Can you explain to me now? You're so evil, how?
The cat in front of him seemed terrified. It fueled him, causing him to subtly lick his chops. Her eyes darted this way and that and it took him only a moment to realize she was searching for escape routes. He admired her courage, most cat pleaded with him. Most new what was coming and tried to avoid it. He would enjoy the hunt and would play along with this new game the she-cat had created.
Biting back a growl he found he couldn't pinpoint exactly where she was thinking to go. Though scared as a cornered mouse she wouldn't let her thoughts be shown on her face. Fallowclaw listened to her explanation and after a moment faced her with his horrid garnet eyes. No whites showed, only a black slit of a pupil in his hate-filled orbs. "So..his mother is MistClan" his voice was back to that honey-like tone. It was emotionless and hard to tell if he believed the lie or not. He ignored the questions that he wanted to ask, why did he even care?
If you care enough, I wasn't willing to take a detour. "Oh, but you must know. I don't care." He started with a purr but on the last three words his mask was broken, ending with tone like razors. He felt tension build.. like the air before a storm and-
She broke off into a run, and he wasn't far behind. He was the cat, the hunter. She was the mouse, the prey. It watched out of his peripheral vision as she picked up the kit. He wanted that kit, too. He could be the prize. The adrenaline of the chase was short lived as Tabbypelt tripped on something. A pebble? A rock? The kit skidded just a little ways away. Catching his breath, the blood boiling in his veins. Fallowclaw took a step closer to her, then another and another. So close, his paws brushed her side. Leaning down slowly he brought his muzzle to her ear. "here, kitty kitty. I always catch them in the end.." he whispered.

Tabbypelt was breaking out in chills. She could feel the evil intentions emanating from the tom. She went limp, knowing the fight was useless. Forcing back a groan of pain, Tabbypelt managed to look up at him. He leaned down and whispered in that sickly sweet voice, 'Here kitty kitty, I always catch them in the end' She felt weak with fear, so much so that feeling fearful was almost impossible. She didn't care if she died, all that mattered was that Ravenkit escaped alive and saw Hawktalon again. She should have felt a lifetime of terror, but she felt nothing but regret. Regret for the things she had tried, failed, and lost. Regret that she couldn't save herself, or ensure that Ravenkit escaped alive.
She couldn't think of anything to do or say. There was no need to. Nothing could change the world, so why try to do it? She should have tried to escape. Should have hurried to camp. She should have told Ravenkit to run. But now it was far too late. She wold fail her brother and Ravenkit, the only two cats she had ever truly loved. Tabbypelt's breathing got slow and steady. She felt calm and oddly as if everything was going to be alright.

Got nothing against you and surely I'll miss you This place full of peace and light
Fallowclaw felt the she-cats heartbeat throb so much faster than his. Fear, he assumed. Fear, the emotion he was causing. He withdrew his black muzzle from where he had positioned it to whisper in her ear. With easy deliberate movements he circled her. He stayed just a paw-length away at all times as he examined his prey, his prize.
She trembled just slightly. He again admired her courage, how she didn't make any pleas to him. Didn't even whimper. It was just so easy to kill. One sudden movement and she'd be gone like that. The hard part of life was living it like you were expected. Trying to preserve life was tough. Why not just go the easy way out? All what he grew up with, once believed in, was exiled from his mind. Instead he found ice-cold fury. It numbed him yet filled him with warmth.
The tom had stopped and slowly let his claws unsheathe. He could feel their potential power, and all the biddings he had made them do. Raising his red eyes, he padded to Tabbypelt. He stopped once again once he was just a whisker away from her face. He would want to see her eyes dull as he tore her life away. He was tired of waiting. With a smirk, he drew back his lips to reveal gleaming white fangs. "You don't even run" he whispered, his voice eerie, cold, emotionless. "You know what's coming and yet.." his soft voice trailed off. Her terror seemed to radiate off her in waves. Once, long ago, that might have stopped him. But no longer, his mind and will were carefully placed behind a shield. Anything he did not care to see or hear went through him blind and deaf.
"And yet.. you can't do anything." Fallowclaw continued. "Any last words?" He did not hesitate and brought a single paw up. His claws shone as he prepared to bring it crashing down.

Tabbypelt felt her calm flood out of her body. She was getting nervous. Death was all around her, and she felt it choking her on all sides. She stared straight into those malicious red eyes, defying her own fate. "I have nothing to say to a beast like yourself." She turned to Ravenkit and gave him one last loving, pained look. "Run, you'll see Hawktalon again, just run..." She didn't have time to see if he had run, for when she returned her gaze to her assailant, his paw was already raised, claws flexed, ready to kill. Why do I have to die? I was only trying to save a helpless kit... No time to worry about that, life was over just as it began, as one single instant that started or ended it all...

It's the edge of the world And all of western civilization
For a single instant he imagined himself in her place, but the feeling soon passed. He wasn't the one who was going to be hurt here. He was already so numb, her death was nothing. Well, maybe not nothing. But like so many it was the same. Once you saw one, death was just another path to follow.
So many cats in the Clan were hopeless, following the 'warrior code'. No, he rode to the end of the usual path of being a warrior and made his own trail, red with blood. But not my blood.. Thoughts made his paw, raised and looming with the threat of his claws, twitch and hesitate. Actions spoke louder than words. Or so he was told.
I have nothing to say to a beast like yourself Fallowclaw looked down with distaste, most of his victims spoke the words 'please, don't' or something along those lines. His burning gaze hardened, yes he was a beast, wasn't he. Not to like wasn't a strong enough word. He was hated. And he accepted it. Then he heard her speak again but to his surprise it was to that kit. He had almost forgotten. Eyes slid over to it, narrowing.
It had taken too long already. Her horror, distress, anguish, sorrow, he could taste it on his tongue like a bad taste. "Welcome to my killing jar, I even put holes in it for you." And with that he threw his paw down with all his practice and force he had. Claws out, glinting in the sunlight, it seemed to take eons for that single blow. Though he knew better. He heard a satisfying sound of murder and felt a cold, evil smile form upon his lips. Now...for that kit.

Tabbypelt felt the claws slice her throat, cold and deadly. spilling her own blood before her eyes. She felt her body vanish behind her, no longer hers. The last thing she saw was Ravenkit sprinting away as fast as his paws would carry him. Starclan let him live... she thought briefly, that's me now... then let herself go...

The pressure may come to pressure us They came to watch us fall
His claws struck their target, so true and precise. So easy, like breathing. Drops of blood spattered on the soft ground beside him as little scarlet rings. As they sunk into the thirsty earth they turned a black color. Like him--blood eyes, black pelt. The thought made his devil smile come creeping back.
Fallowclaw could feel her soul shudder, like the distortion when you threw a pebble into still water. He tilted his head slightly to peer into her eyes. They were quiet pretty..not that it mattered anymore. The light was fading from them as a dying flame would. Slowly, flickering.. darkness... "Pretty thing" he cooed. "Join them who you call StarClan. Watch over these cats when you refused to ever watch over me." His voice was so bitter you could almost see the emotion in it. His eyes flashed with something; Sorrow? Regret? However it was gone as he blinked, this time a flame being blown out in a moment's time.
Anger forgotten, the familiar numbness of the world crept around him. Blocking out everything except the simple task of murder. Raising his claws again the glittered horribly in the sunlight. Again and again his slashed her body. A hysterical laughter bubbled through his lips but he was barely aware. Suddenly he noticed something else. Where did he go..?
Tiny pawprints led away from him, a dead giveaway of the kit's direction. "Oh, you can't run from me, dear" he hissed with narrowed, gleeful eyes.
