A few hours after sunrise, Gloomheart padded back into camp. In his mouth he carried a few morsels of freshkill which he deposited in the freshkill pile. He had been out on an early hunting patrol, but then recalled he had an apprentice he should be training! He looked among the cats in camp, trying to spot his apprentice. Her name was Beastpaw, and he recalled that her pelt was tan and brown. Gloomheart was very excited to get to know his new apprentice. He thoroughly enjoyed teaching young cats. Gloomheart wasn't too concerned when he didn't find her right off. He figured she might still be sleeping.

Beastpaw yawned, and stretched her legs. Her eyes shot open in alarm, and she looked around for the mouth of the den. Bright. And, stunning. She walzed her way around sleeping humps, and when she stepped outside, she stumbled backward a bit. It was really bright, to much for her liking. Her tummy began runbling, and Beastpaw flinched from her hunger. Warriors were all around her, apprentices as well. Beastpaw tried to look innocent as she casually walked in the direction of the fresh-kill pile, and slowly made her way. And, success. Beastpaw grabbed a vole, and began off. She was in a low jog, and smiling to herself. For what reason? Not even she could answer. Perhaps the taste was quite fine? Doubtful. "Her, watch whe-"[/b] Beastfang began, as she walked into a figure. The vole dropped to the ground, and she reconized her mentor, Gloomheart. Beastfang looked around hopefully, and than looked back to Gloomheart, and backed away a little bt. "Er... This is for you!"[/color]

Just as he was about to call out her name, Beastpaw appeared and crashed into him. She dropped a vole that she was carrying and offered it to him during the chaotic moment. Gloomheart smiled and chuckled for a few seconds before responding. "That's fine, you go ahead and eat it." He nudged the vole back over to her with his nose. The grey tom figured learning how to catch her own freshkill would be alright to try on her first day, "After you finish, want to try hunting?" Gloomheart figured he should catch a few more pieces of freshkill for the pile as well, so it was a good opportunity. Realizing Beastpaw probably wasn't familiar with the territory either, he added, "While we're out I can show you around our territory and the borders."

Beastpaw sighed in relief and smiled at Gloomheart, her ears twitching backwards. She suffed down the vole, and stretched once more. She sneezed, and looked at Gloomheart. "Er... Okay.. It's a bit soon for hunting, but I'm up for it! Let's go!" Beastpaw began to run out of camp, her eyes sparkling with joy and enthusiasm. Her mouth opened in a soundless laugh, and without her mentors word, she continued running.

Gloomheart supposed his apprentice was right about going a bit too fast. It wouldn't hurt though to try to catch the prey they saw while exploring the territory. He quickly padded after Beastpaw to catch up. Why she would run ahead when she didn't know the area anyway? After he caught up with his excited apprentice, he said, "I suppose we could check out the river first. It's our border with Mistclan and Dawnclan." He led her through the forest towards the sound of the flowing river, adding, "Not sure if you have ever heard the story of our name, but the forest burned down long ago. Thus, we are Fireclan. Now, the Sunlight Woods are fully recovered and are a great place to hunt."

Beastpaw looked at the river, standing behind GLoomheart, and a smile grew upon her face. It looks so pretty! How can it border two territories, though? And, what is the river called? Beastpaw pressed, looking into the rver's swift moving water. She dipped her paw in it, and flinched from the sudden coldness. Thats amazing... It all grew back! That would have been a sight to see!

As they looked at the river, Beastpaw began asking him questions. He promptly answer, "You see, the river splits into two smaller ones here.." He walked over a few tail-lengths and nodded a bit further down river where the fork was. He nodded towards the left, "You see, Mistclan is on this side of the river branch..." Then he pointed his nose to the right side, "..and the Dawnclan territory is on this side, along with Moon Cave." In response to her second question, he added, "We call it the Willow River."Figuring she would be curious about the other clan, he continued, "This piece of the river eventually turns towards the east and separates Dawnclan from Moonclan, and the kittypet fields are beyond Mistclan in the west."Smiling at her enthusiasm about the forest growing back, he mewed, "Yes, it took many generations to grow back. It's through legends and stories passed down that we know the fire happened."Going over the possibilities in his head, he tried to figure out where they should go next, "Unless you have anymore questions about this area, we could go see the old thunderpath next. It will be a bit of a long walk since it's at the other end of the territory."

Beastpaw listened, and took notice of every hint Glomherat gave her. Her eyes were full of wonder, and of course, pure awe. She wanted to learn more right now, but she held her tongue. To much at a time would be simply over working it. Beastpaw, however, swore to herself, she would be the best apprentice Fireclan has ever seen. No questions, Glomheart. Let's go to the Thunderpath! I heard it smells so bad, it even has the badgers running! BEastpaw exlamined, running off, ready. OOC;; I want her to be running in the wrong direction xD

Beastpaw had no more questions, so it was decided they would head to the thunderpath. In the young apprentice's excitement, she bounded off in the wrong direction. Gloomheart bounded after her, "Beastpaw, it's back this way!" He called after her. A chuckled escaped his lips; he remembered being an eager apprentice.

Beastpaw skidded to a stop, embarrassment covering her face, as she began to walk back to Gloomherat, head down. She was hiding a smile of disappointment, wanting to llearn as much as she could on the first day. Oh, heh, let's pretend that didn't happen? Er, youl ead the way, GLoomheart

Gloomheart gave his apprentice a queer look for a moment, then continued on, "It's this way..." He led her through back through the woods, over towards the far end of the territory. After many moments of walking, they finally came across the thunderpath. It was old, so the stench wasn't too bad. The path itself was a worn, light gray. "Here we are." Gloomheart announced, then began explaining, "Hardly any monsters ever come through he, so it's not that dangerous. However, the loner meadow is on the other side, so it's best not to cross it."
