THE BASICS

• In time sense, a moon is a month
• A girl cat is called a she-cat
• A boy cat is called a tom or tom cat
• Young cats and babies under 6 moons are called kits.
• Cats that are 6+ moons training to be warriors are called apprentices. Their name ends with paw.
• A Queen is a female with kits and/or pregnant.
• An Elder is a cat retired from Clan service from injury or age. They are well respected.
• A cat becomes a warrior when their leader decides so.
• Clans have one Leader, Deputy, and Medicine cat.
• (Most Clan cats) Believe in StarClan, and will go there when they die.

-Horseplace-fields and stables near the lake where half-tamed cats live
-Housefolk-a house cats word for its humans

-Leaf-bare- winter time
-Leaf-fall-fall/autumn time
-Loner-cat that lives peacefully on its own in one place but does not defend its territory
-Monster-usually refers to human cars
-Moon high-the time of night when the moon is at its highest, often midnight
-Mouse dung-an insult, stronger then mouse brain, but less offensive than fox dung
-Newleaf-spring time
-Nofurs- another word for humans
-One moon-one month
-Half-moon- two weeks
-Quarter moon- one week
-Rogue-a potentially hostile cat who lives outside the clans and never spends too much time in one place.
-Sharing tongues- term used to describe cats grooming each other
-Silverpelt-the milky way
-Sun-drown place-the ocean, where the sun sets
-Sun high- noon
-Tail-kisser-an insult meaning when a cat is being a suck-up or a show off
-Thunderpath-a road
-Tree eater- bulldozer
-Twoleg nest- a human house
-Twolegplace- a human town
-Twolegs- clans word for a human
-Upwalkers-another word for humans
-White cough-mild chest infection

WARRIOR CODE

1. Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle.
2. Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory.
3. Elders and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders.
4. Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.
5. A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.
6. Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.
7. A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.
8. The deputy will become leader when the leader dies or retires.
9. After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.
10. A gathering of all four clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Clans at this time.
11. Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.
12. No warrior may neglect a kit in pain or in danger, even if that kit is from a different Clan.
13. The word of the Clan leader is law.
14. An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or it is necessary for self-defense.
15. A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet.

CEREMONIES

Apprentice Ceremony:
By Naming apprentices, We show that -PutClanHere- will survive and remain strong.-KitsNameHere- , from now on you will be known as -KitsNewApprenticeName-...-MentorsName-, you are ready for an apprentice. You Will Mentor -NewApprenticesName-.

Warrior Ceremony:
-ApprenticesName-, you have trained hard and deserve to be named.
It is Time for you to become a warrior. From now on, you will be known as -ApprenticesWarriorName-. I hope that you will withhold the warriors code as taught by your mentor, -MentorsName-, And be a strong member of -ClansName-!

(This is for if a deputy died and is being replaced)
I say these words before the body of -LastDeputiesName-, so that his/her spirit may hear and approve my choice. -NewDeputy'sName-will be the new deputy of -ClansName-.

Medicine Cat Ceremony:
(Medicine cat of the apprentices says this at the MoonCave)
-MedicineCatApprenticesName-, do you promise to uphold the ways of the medicine cat, to stand apart from rivalry between clan and clan, and protect all cats equally even at the cost of your life?
(Apprentice replies "I Do")
Then By the powers of Starclan I give you your true nae as a medicine cat. -MedicineCatApprenticesName-, from this moment you will be known as -MedicineCatApprenticesNewName-.

Name Changing
Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name. I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for what (he/she) is. By my authority as Clan leader and with the approval of our warrior ancestors i give this cat a new name. From this moment (he/she) will be know as (whatever the name is) for (give some reason for example "for though her body was gravely injured"....) we will honor (give things to honor like "for her brave spirit")
Then he/she will act like a new warrior and lick the leaders shoulder.
