Auburnpaw looked up sharply as she saw a figure run towards her from MoonClan territory. This relaxation did not even fade as he stopped in front of her. Auburnpaw blinked at Cougarpaw, not at all surprised at his aggressive attitude. He deserved to be angry at her, she had invaded his territory, almost killed them both, and then ran off without explanation.
She tipped her head to the side slightly and only said one thing "I'm sorry"
Auburnpaw quickly turned and walked calmly along the river, hoping to get near FireClan territory soon. The calm feeling she built up in order to speak to Cougarpaw had vanished as soon as she turned her back. She was in no way calm now, her red-brown chest was heaving and her eyes had begun to water again. She just wanted to have this problem with Cougarpaw out of the way, all she really wanted to do what sleep.

Cougarpaw's green eyes lit up with shock, his mouth opened speechless. He was expecting perhaps resistance or even yowling from the she-cat but she merely said two words. The two words pretty much had a great impact on the golden tabby tom. All thoughts of aggressively chastising her or even trying to claw her fur drained away, leaving a shocked, shell, ready to fill up with kindness. "Erm, uh. Hey wait!"Cougarpaw called, taking a step forward as Auburnpaw turned and began to walk away.

Aurbunpaw began shaking as Cougarpaw called out and she could no longer take it. She slumped down, letting her entire body hit the ground. She lay there for a few moments before opening her yellow eyes to stare at the cloudy sky. The clouds were moving, moving to a point where she could see a part of the beautiful blue sky above, crystal clear and as blue as a calm river. She felt so tired that she could barley lift her head to see if Cougarpaw was going to come over the river. She almost didn't care, all she really wanted to do at this moment was stare up at the sky and relax, nothing else mattered.

"Auburnpaw!" Cougarpaw shouted, seeing the lithe body of the she-cat collapse suddenly. Without hesitating, the tabby tom jumped into the river, splashing his way to the other side. Even the uncomfortable torrid that soaked his belly fur or the fact that he was recklessly crossing enemy territory didn't stop him from reaching the bank. He quickly scrabbled onto land and hurridly bounded to the she-cat, not even bothering to shake water out of his soaking pelt. "Are you ok?"the tom asked, searching over Auburnpaw's face.

Auburnpaw blinked up at the sky, so beautiful. Suddenly her name was called and there was a splash of water. Ignoring it she purred up at the sky. She wanted to stay here forever. Soon her vision was blocked by a shadowed figure before her. She jumped slightly before noticing it was Cougarpaw. She looked away. "I'm fine. She growled, trying to be defensive and harsh but it washed away. Still looking away she quietly mewed. "I'm just so exhausted." She looked up at the tom but quickly away again. "I just don't know what to do."She felt her entire body shaking and she wished it would stop. She was just showing weakness to the MoonClan tom. She had never felt so powerless in her entire life.

"Well, I'd probably get up first,"Cougarpaw replied scathingly, sitting down next to her. He flicked his ears in annoyance, quite irritated that she had made him cross over just to realize she wasn't quite grateful. As a breeze blew by, the golden brown tom noticed his fur was still dripping wet. Quickly, he gave himself a brisk shake, not bothering to make sure he was well away from Auburnpaw as some of the droplets showered the Fireclan she-cat.

Auburnpaw pushed her self to her paws ignoring the pain that shot through them. She was unsure of what to say to the tom. She glanced over at him and noticed that he was still dripping with water. His golden pelt soaking wet with little sun to dry him off. She looked into his angered eyes. Despite everything that happened over the past two days she felt calm around him. Before she realized was she was doing she licked a stray droplet off of his cheek. Mid lick she froze and scrambled backwards, sure she would receive harsh words or a paw to her face for that. She hadn't meant to do what she did but she couldn't help what she did.
Auburnpaw averted her yellow gaze and looked down at her brownish-red fur. It was slightly wet from when Cougarpaw sprinkled her with excess water and it was tangled in several places. She, still feeling embarrassed, began to lick these water droplets from her own fur and getting rid of the annoying tangles in her long fur. For a moment she looked up and she was once again lost in his eyes, ready for the blow of anger that was about to come her way. There was no way she was getting off easy for that one. Not even yesterday when he had saved her life had she done that. Not even when he was calm and willing to talk to her openly.

Cougarpaw was totally taken aback when he felt Auburnpaw's gentle tongue whisk his cheek. His green eyes widened in shock to see her face so close to his. A lot of things happened at once at that very moment. His heart raced a mile a second and his fur bristled so that he looked twice his size, even with all the water clinging to his pelt. His face grew all red and his ears drew back. His green eyes were inflamed with a number of emotions that attacked his heart that none could be defined. Cougarpaw lept back quickly, standing in a defensive position with his legs spread out and tail lashing. His claws were unsheathed and his mouth was bared in a snarl. "Wh-What was that for?!"the Moonclan apprentice growled, glaring at Auburnpaw with rage in his eyes. However, his eyes also held confusion and...longing?

Auburnpaw shrank back in fear. She really wished she hadn't done that, she really didn't mean to. She began to slowly slink backwards. "I-I didn't mean to." She mewed, back legs shaking only slightly to her surprise. "I... I can't explain it." Auburnpaw's yellow gaze dropped and she felt her entire body prickle with embarrassment.
Suddenly feeling rather brave she stood up strong, her mind ready for anything. "It's not just me you shrink back from Cougarpaw, I've seen you around other cats. Even cats from your own clan. You're not the nicest cat at the best of times." She took a deep breath. "It took great courage for you to save my life yesterday and I came here to thank you for that, nothing more. It was you who ran to my rescue again when I stumbled. If you didn't want me to thank you, you should have never even come to help." She felt her fur bristling, refusing to look weak now. Never before had she felt so proud of her self. Usually she was in the back of the crowd, never getting into arguments. But this time she couldn't help it. Cougarpaw was infuriating her.

Cougarpaw froze, mouth open as he prepared for a retort to Auburnpaw yet nothing came out. He was speechless by her sudden outpour of anger from her. He found himself ashamed that he had made her mad and felt that he should apologize. Wait...what?! Apologize to this furball? An angry voice seemed to push away the warm feeling that had blossomed in his heart, trying to keep it back with common sense. "W-Well, of-of course I saved you,"Cougarpaw sputtered, standing taller and trying to cover up his flusters though his cheeks were quite red. "The warrior code asks cats to help those in trouble,"he mumbled, hoping the excuse would cover up the reason he saved her. For moment, Cougarpaw realized he was staring quite too long at Auburnpaw's amber eyes and quickly looked away, briskly licking down his chest fur.

Auburnpaw faltered slightly at his tone of voice but the anger was still bubbling away inside. "The warrior code?" She mewed, feeling ice slip into her tone, not believing a sliver of it. "Since when has MoonClan cared deeply about the warrior code?" She felt a shiver run down her back at his eyes staring into hers but she refused to let them stop her.
"I've seen you at gatherings Cougarpaw, you stick with your own clan and when you don't you're rather rude to members of the other clans. Especially my clan." She was still looking him straight in the eye. The next words she spoke she spoke with as much clarity as she could. "Why did you save me yesterday?" Because it was bugging her all night and knows that she can't sleep until she understands more clearly.
((Correct me if im wrong about his attitude, im just making her rant on right now))

Cougarpaw was feeling quite pressured by Auburnpaw's continuous accusations. His golden brown fur was beginning to bristle in irritation and his eyes narrowed. "Well who asked you to spy on me at the Gatherings!"he protested, lashing his tail, now standing in a defensive position with his face snarling at hers.
"Why did you save me yesterday?"
The Moonclan apprentice was, again, lost for words and a growl rumbled in his throat, as if trying to speak the words that seemed to slip from his tongue. "I-I don't know okay!"he suddenly yowled out furiously, cuffing a tuft of grass quite angrily with his claws, cutting into the grass and earth. Suddenly, as if he'd lost all his energy, the tom slumped his shoudlers and his fur began to lie flat and the anger in his eyes seemed to ebb away, leaving a confused tom staring at the spot where he had slashed. "I-I don't...I guess I wasn't really thinking when I saved you,"Cougarpaw mumbled, sighing as he looked at Auburnpaw.

Auburnpaw felt all the fight leave her body as she heard his answer. It seemed true enough, the look on his face and his body language told her this. "Okay." She nodded, feeling slightly better. "Me too I guess..." She mewed, looking at Cougarpaw's claws slash at the grass. "I wasn't thinking as I ran from you yesterday, not when I lashed out with my words either." She glanced sideways at Cougarpaw only to notice that he was looking at her.
"And I wasn't stalking you." She murmured. "You're talked about in FireClan within the she-cat apprentices. It's hard to ignore really." She rolled her eyes. "They all think you're really handsome despite your attitude." She was trying to lighten the mood now.

Cougarpaw shrugged, looking quite listless as he had no motivation to argue with Auburnpaw. However, he continued to watch her, his green eyes still quizzical, his heart and mind still battling on how he should view the Fireclan she-cat.
As Auburnpaw mentioned the she-cats in Fireclan, Cougarpaw shrugged again, not at all humbled or flattered by the comment. "So what, I just want to be a good warrior, not a goodlooking tom,"the golden tom meowed. However, his fur bristled slightly as some question popped into his mind. He gave Auburnpaw a sideways glance and had to ask, "What do you think of me?"

Auburnpaw's ears twitched as his questions feeling slightly embarrassed. "I've never given much thought to it." She said, avoiding his eyes. "You were such a brute at the gathers, you always came off as arrogant to me..." She met his green eyes, "You never came off as the kind of warrior who would save another's life on pure instinct." Auburnpaw didn't feel the need to add that it risked his life as well as he already knew that.

Cougarpaw's ear twitched as Auburnpaw described him as aggressive and arrogant. His tail flicked at the tip, thumping the ground lightly. His green eyes were slightly hardened as he took in what Auburnpaw said. Normally, he wouldn't take those comments about his personally. He often heard others talk of him being very aggressive and arrogant, but he knew to be a fearsome warrior, those were the qualities he needed. Therefore, it would please him to think other cats had some respect for him, even if they were a bit annoyed. However, hearing Auburnpaw say this did not please him at all. On the contrary, he felt his heart wither in disappointment and he had the urge to please her.
"I-I see..."he muttered, feeling his ears grow hot in embarrassment. "Well, this is the...um..first time I saved someone...so..."he added awkwardly, unable to really finish the sentence.
((Er, sorry for this lame post XD haven't rped in a while haha))

Auburnpaw blinked in surprise at his change in attitude. "Well it doesn't happen every day now does it?" She purred, amused at his embarrassed expression. "I know its horrible of me... but I'm very prejudiced." Auburnpaw herself felt a little embarrassed at this. "I was too quick to judge you obviously." Surprisingly, Auburnpaw was no longer feeling uncomfortable around the tom. She was finally able to meet Cougarpaw's green eyes without feeling intimidated.
Though still slightly nervous that his mood would change if he got too close, Auburnpaw sat down and curled her rust colored tail around her paws.Suddenly curious she asked, "What about me? What was your first impression?"

Cougarpaw felt his face burn red as Auburnpaw asked him back. "Er-um...I didn't really think about that really,"the golden brown tom said, flustered. "I mean- I was more concentrated on chasing you off our territory wasn't I?"he meowed quickly. "I guess at that time...you were just an intruder he mewed quickly. Of course, it wasn't exactly all he thought about her. However, he was quite shy about confessing what it really was about her that interest him; although he himself was still trying to figure out why. It was the warrior code and his dignity that kept his mouth shut.

Auburnpaw's ears flicked as a warm breeze brushed by. "Well..." She murmured, watching his eyes. "What do you think of me now?" She was honestly hoping that it was good. She couldn't understand why, because she had never felt this before, but she wanted him to approve. She wanted a friend, even if that friend was from another clan.
She let her eyes travel over Cougarpaw. She let her brain analyze, for the first time, everything about this tom. He was handsome. She also knew that he could be a nice tom, despite all the talk at the gatherings. She hadn't lied about his attitude at the gatherings, she just hadn't mentioned how much she had noticed him. She had noticed him enough to know that it was his behavior, something he did without thinking. She knew that it was instinct for him to react the way he did. He was just protecting himself, and trying to become the best and well respected warrior he would one day be. She had guessed many things about this tom, him more than others of the same age for an unknown reason, but still...not sure if what she assumed was true. She assumed a lot when she observed and she had already learned that not everything was true.
Right now he was nervous, but Auburnpaw couldn't figure out why. She was far from intimidating. But still... she couldn't figure out his wavering gaze and stuttering meow.

Cougarpaw's ears were flat against his head as Auburnpaw pressed him for an answer. His green gaze looked into her eyes but quickly dropped it back to the ground. He had felt it again when he gazed into her eyes. It was the same leap in his heart and a soaring feeling in his stomach. The young tom had yet to distinguish just what that feeling was. "Um...you're uh...nice,"he began lamely, feeling his cheeks burn with embarrassment. His mouth just couldn't say the right thing. Partly because he could feel his pride as a loyal Moonclan warrior deteriorating the longer he spent with this Fireclan she-cat. Yet a bigger reason for his stuttering was that Auburnpaw just seemed too....beautiful for words to describe her.
"I-I guess I really like you...."the tom finally meowed.

Aurburnpaw felt her heart swell with happiness. She blinked warmly at Cougarpaw, looking into his bright green eyes. Sure, she had been able to make friends with some of the apprentices of the other clans at the gathering she'd been to... but this was a lot different. Cougarpaw had been cold and inconsiderate. He'd been rude and horrible to anyone who'd try to talk to him. He'd attacked her without asking questions... but she'd gotten through to him.
"Great!" She meowed, eyes shining with mirth. "Lets go explore!" She bounded towards MoonClan territory. Before she went too much farther she turned and asked, "Is it okay if I just have a quick look around?" She didn't want to get onto his bad side again, but her adventurous and curious sides were coming out at this moment. "I've always wanted to see MoonClan territory." She was almost bouncing with happiness, finding it hard to believe that Cougarpaw didn't hate her.

Cougarpaw flushed red when he saw Auburnpaw's eyes gleam with happiness, slightly flustered. He always showed a cocky, hard exterior, but when it came to being social with the she-cat he had a crush on, it made him turn into something similar to a lovestruck, bumbling rabbit.
Before he could respond, the she-cat asked him if they could explore his own territory. The warrior-code bounded side of the tom instantly snarled at the idea of letting Auburnpaw wander through Moonclan territory, especially since she was from an enemy Clan. However, the happinness exuded from her softened him up and he mewed somewhat in an uncertain tone, "Um...sure. We just have to make sure we're not caught." The tom warily padded after Auburnpaw, scanning his surroundings to make sure none of his Clanmates were patrolling around.
