Say You'll Haunt Me

BrokenCyde padded around the camp. Lilydawn had stopped visiting him, and he was as lonely as could be. His shook his black pelt with blonde and brown mixed in. His luminous green eyes twinkled handsomely. Oh how he wanted a mate... he wanted to love someone special again...could he find another cat that could make him feel the way Lilydawn did? He heard a rustle behind him and turned to greet whoever it was.

The darkest blue orbs came in the view. Any mortal cat would gasp at the sight. Stars twinkled around her pale, ghostly, transparent pelt. Long gray fur shook and rippled in the light every time she walked. Beauitful gray tabby shone in the light, in the stars too. So pretty no one could touch her. Only one cat have that privilege to caress, rub, and roll in her beauty.

"Brokencyde." The beauitful she-cat whispered. "I am sorry I did not follow my promise." She touched noses with the warrior and looked up at him directly in the eyes, "Please forgive me."

Brokencyde gazed at her with his eyes of green. "Lilydawn..." he whispered. "I thought you had left me." he meowed softly. He kissed her sweet lips lovingly. "I love you and i've missed you so much." he purred. 'Please forgive me' he heard the words ringing with sorrow and guilt. "There is nothing to forgive." he assured with a handsome smile. "You are here now and that's all that matters."

"Our kits can't be with us tonight. They have businesses to attend," the beautiful gray tabby explained to the mortal MistClan warrior. With a lovely flick of her ears, she raised an eyebrow, "I know you will forgive me, but I feel bad. I hate breaking my promises." Promises, promises. Stars danced around her eyes, driving her light-headed. However, she was used to this. So she kept her balance firm. In her former life, she would not keep still from the dazzling lights.

"How are you doing?" She asked him, wrapping her long tail around her paws. From StarClan, she watch over her clanmates and her mate, but she still want him to tell her, to share his company.

Brokencyde smiled at her. "That's ok love." he meowed. "PLease don't beat yourself up over it...i broke a promise to you too...that i'd always protect you and never let anything bad happen to you..." he meowed his smile fading. "I have been fine. The clan is thriving more than ever...i belive it's in your honor, my love." he meowed

Lilydawn was impressed. Of course, she was. This was her love, the cat of her dreams and her life. She wish she would be still alive, walking on the path with him, twining her tail with his tail. But it will never happen. Her mortal body that was left behind is already rotten and decayed from the long abandoned use. The beautiful tabby found herself desiring for a body to be in so she could be with him for moons to come.

Pushing aside the impossible thought, she purred, "That is wonderful." Then all of sudden, she turned away. She knew that she would never bring herself to say this later. She will regret if she don't tell him this. Sighing, she turned around again and told him, "You have to find a new love." This hurt her deeply inside. He would never be happy with his life. He would never be content with life if he don't have a new love. She knew that he is happy with her, but she want him to move on without her. Her place is not here with him. Her place is among the stars, with her ancestors, watching over the clan.

Brokencyde's smile vanished. "Wh-----what?!" he choked out. "Lilydawn....look at me for Starclan's sake!" he begged. "Why?" these past weeks have been the happiest moments of my life! If you hadn't of come back i would of killed myself for sure! You gave me a reason to wake up in the morning...When you died...i didn't eat, i didn't sleep...nothing....But when you came back i changed the clan noticed it too. I smiled more i ate, i hunted, a didn't cry all the time..I had a reason to be...alive...And you can just take that away from me and leave me broken once again?" he asked hurt dripping in his voice.

All those things he told her was an utter shock. Lilydawn did not expect him to tell her that. She thought he was unhappy because he have no one to spend his life with, but he was unhappy because she did not visit him that often in the past. The new revelation brought her to a halt. It depressed her. Sighing, she closed her eyes, and silently regretted what she said.

"I thought you..." she let it trial off. "I love you so much." She said that instead.

Brokencyde gazed at her. Guilt prickled his pelt. She wasn't able to move on and join the stars because of him... "Lilydawn... you can go....you can join the stars and our children and be happy....I love you and i always will but i have to let you move on...Gotta let you be happy or i won't be able to live with myself..." he meowed

"Brokencyde," she whispered. The whisper was weak. Calling his name, she did not want him to feel bad. Or guilty at all. It is not his fault. She told him this, "Listen to me. I will move on when you are with me. I will be the one to lead you the way to the stars. At least, that is my last wish."

Then she added something else, "It will be a long wait. You are blessed to have a long life." She burrowed her head against his chest. "I am not supposed to share this with you, but I have to." She hid the smile, but purposedly let him see the smile. She could not imagine, but she could imagine him growing old, becoming a cranky elder when she remain in her etheral, youthful body.

Brokencyde gazed into her beautiful eyes. "I just want you to know that if i ever find another mate, she will never replace you...I think it would be impossible to me to love anyone as much as i love you." he whispered truthfully

"Oh hush," the forever beautiful gray tabby she-cat whispered again. She looked away from his eyes, burrowing her head against his chest, quietly listening to his heart. Closing her eyes to that tiny fragile beat, she smiled wistfully. As she moved away slowly, she rose her head up proudly, "I will be here when your time come. I will be right here waiting for you."

As she said that, her body turned transparent. Filled with stars dancing around her sheer gray tabby pelt, her eyes faded to a ghostly color. It is time.

It is time for her to fade away into time, into another world, waiting for her love to grow old and decay until he can join her with stars in his fur. It will be a long time before that will happen.

For a long moment Brokencyde just stared at the spot where his former mate had once stood before she had gone to the stars to be happy and joyous.... it was what she deserved.... He would forever miss her, but he would have to move on until he was able to spend eternity with her. His old scars ripped open, but as he shed a single tear a smile was on his handsome face for he knew that he had done the right thing. "Lilydawn i love you.." he whispered to the night

The gray tabby spirit was gone. Only wind came to greet him. The wind purred lightly, carrying the words in the air, "Brokencyde, I love you..." The purr was full of joy, laughter, and happiness. There was no regrets. Then the wind slowed down, leaving the mortal warrior all alone with darkness to comfort him.
