The Training Field. A place where most mentors took their apprentices to, training them to become warriors of DawnClan. The sun was shining, ascending to the sky in it's forever light and signaled the beginning of sun-high. Crossing the grassy plains and moving over hills, was a light tan and black tom. His pelt seemed to flow with the steady winds that blew over their land, his ice blue eyes scanning the areas for any other warrior around and his long black tail was waving in a slow motion as he padded through the tall grass.
Swiftpelt figured that this was a good day for both hunting, and battle training. But after so much thought back at camp, he chose to do Battle training first as he promised Featherpaw he would teach her some moves of their clan. Since it was alittle hot, he also wanted to take a break before beginning the other half of her training. Flicking his ears back, he stopped at a small hill and a smile showed on his muzzle.
"We're here, Featherpaw!" He meowed, looking over his shoulder and waved his tail.

The sun was high over the two cats heads as they padded across the moor and into the field where apprentices were trained to become warriors of Dawnclan. A small she-cat, only moons old, padded behind a much older looking cat. Picking their way through the tall grass, the cats came to a stop. 'Here we're, Featherpaw!' the tom-cat mewed.
Looking around, Featherpaw took in her surroundings. The tall grass was already like home to her, but the field was new. She had only been here once, and it had been when she toured her territory and first becoming an apprentice a quarter moon ago. Taking a deep breath, she scented rabbit on the wind, probably out for a drink of water. Another lift of her muzzle told her there were two or more of them. Reminding her self that now was not the time to hunt, and prepared her self to fight her mentor, Swiftpelt.
"I'm ready." She mewed, her nervous eyes meeting Swiftpelt's. There had been more than one time now, that she wished she had gotten battle training sooner. Her meetings with Nettlepaw were safe enough, but she could never be sure that a Moonclan or Dawnclan warrior would come along. It had been a close call the first time.

Swiftpelt nodded, flicking his ears back and started down the hill in quick bounds. The wind was pounding against his face, making him feel like he was flying and soon found a spot where they could train. Bringing himself to a halt, he slowly turned to Featherpaw, his ice blue eyes now seemed more tensed and soon put one black paw in front of the other.
"Alright. I want to see what you can do first, so I know how well you move." The tan and black tom meowed, his tail waving in the air. "Now come at me." He added, now in a tougher tone and moved another paw forward.

Following her mentor with quick paws, always on his heels; Featherpaw felt her fur get hot under the sun, the wind cooling her down. Stopping only momentarily to lap up water from a small pool of water, the only evidence from rain the day before, she quenched her thirst. Her silver-gray was blowing in the wind and she felt her entire body relax before tensing due to her mentor turning on her. 'Now come at me.'
Closing her eyes for a moment she thought. Swiftpelt was lean, just like the rest of Dawnclan's warriors, but his lazy attitude did not mean he was an easy fight. Taking his quick speed into account, Featherpaw ran towards him, pretending to leap up, but instead sliding under him. Planning to slide right though his legs and then turning to pounce, Featherpaw fell short and instead of making it all the way through, she stopped part way. Half under Swiftpelt, Featherpaw felt panicked. "Oops." She mewed, feeling ashamed.

Swiftpelt readied himself, every part of his body tensed as Featherpaw came at him with a good amont of speed and a slight smile crossed his face. Good form, slow speed but she will get better in time. He thought, his ears flicking back with a small chuckle. Before he could move however, Featherpaw started to go under him, which somehow surprized him in a way. But his apprentice slipped and instead of moving under him as he thought she would, she only made it halfway.
Sighing at this, Swiftpelt simply backed up until he could see Featherpaw's head and crouched down to whisper in her ear. "Nice try. If you did stop like that during a fight against another clan....they will not think twice of killing you." Getting up again, he turned and padded off a few mouse leanths ahead of her. Then with a twitch of his ears, turned to face his apprentice again.
"Try again...this time, don't say oops..." He mewed, getting back into the stance yet again with a shine in his eyes.

Heaving her self up, Featherpaw resisted from smiling at her mentor's kind words. Taking a deep breath, she prepared her self to run at Swiftpelt. Determined to surprise her mentor, she prepared to do the same thing, but with a different ending. Running towards him again, this time she really did jump towards his shoulders. When she landed on his soft fur, she pushed off towards the right, landing beside him, before she could think, she ran towards his flank and shoved her body against his, trying to unbalance him.

Swiftpelt waited silently, his ice blue eyes seemed focused on his apprentice and his ears twitched ever so slightly as Featherpaw came toward him again. But this time, she jumped on his shoulders and shifted to the right, which almost shocked the tan and black tom. But when she was shoving her body against his flank, Swiftpelt knew she had made a mistake. Moving quickly, the warrior shoved back, hard enough but at the same time gentle enough to knock Featherpaw to the ground.
Sure, that move would've worked on a dazed warrior or apprentice, but not on one that was quick to strike back. He had learned that the hard way from his mentor, so now it was Featherpaw's turn. Once again, he turned to face his apprentice and slight smile showed on his dark muzzle. "Good. You got the speed right, but that move would fail agaisnt a warrior that is more based on power. You have to use your enemies weight against them in order to gain the upper hand....or paw..." He meowed, chuckling alittle and backed up a few paces.
"One more time, this time, remember what I told you." He added, flicking his long black tail with a look of amusement in his eyes.

On the ground feeling dejected, but sure to get it right she heaved a sigh. Blinking her eyes warmly at the tom and got up, ready to try again. Making sure she didn't make the same mistakes, Featherpaw circled Swiftpelt, looking for a spot to strike him. Looking to his left, she saw a small puddle. Trying to hide her excitement, she ran towards him, when she was close enough to him and the puddle, she sprayed both sand and water at her mentor, showering him. Hoping it was enough to either blind or distract him, she pounced on his shoulders, lightly nipping his neck before jumping off and preparing to slide under him again.

Swiftpelt watched closely as his apprentice moved around him and twitched his left ear. What is she up to. The warrior thought, watching Featherpaw run toward him but instead, switched in a different dirction. This made the tan and black tom wonder, tilting his head alittle with another flick of his tail. Turning his head away for a moment, he was able to scent a rabbit nearby but shook his head. We'll hunt in a few. Before he could look back at Featherpaw, he was suddenly splashed with something and he flinched. "Water!" He yowled, forgeting about his apprentice and felt his his neck being nipped at.
Darn it! Not again. Swiftpelt thought, hissing low and saw Featherpaw standing there, ready to strike again. "Nice....If only I wasn't afraid of water..." He mumbled to himself, facing his apprentice with a smile. Flicking his tail, he padded over to Featherpaw and gently pushed her with one black paw.
"Very good. Your learning quickly, young one. Now...." He meowed, looking around with a flash of wonder in his eyes."Let's try hunting." He added, flicking his ears back.

Feeling proud at his praise, Featherpaw lifted her head up straighter. The thought of hunting made her stomach prickle and rumble with hunger. Reminding her self that she needed to feed the clan first, she set off with her mentor, paws ready for the hunt. Serving her clan was what warriors did, and she was proud of it.
The sun wasn't quite directly over their heads now, but the heat was still in full storm. This was her first Greenleaf, being born in Leafbare, she was used to the cool air. Fluffing up her fur, she wanted to run through the field and into the tree's with Nettlepaw. When she was there, the shade always covered the sun and allowed her self to cool down. Usually she was there before and durring dawn, never in the heat of the day. Featherpaw wondered what it'd be like during sun-high. Purring, she waited for Swiftpelt at the top of the hill, ready for what he had to teach her today.

Swiftpelt nodded to his apprentice before lifting his head to the sky, his jaws opened slowly and sniffed the air for any signs of prey. His tail was still as he scearhed for a scent that could help Featherpaw with her training and smiled as he soon found a scent linger to his nose, a rabbit scent.
Waving his tail again, he moved a few steps to where the scent was and then looked over his shoulder to where his apprentice stood, moitoning his tail over."Over here." Swiftpelt called, his voice low and calm. He flicked his tail over to a Rabbit, not far from where they stood and lowered his ears until they were halfway to the sides of his skull. The wind was in their favor, blowing towards them and with a slight nod, turned his head to Featherpaw.
"Now, try to catch that Rabbit without my help." He purred, sitting down again with a smile. "I'll watch from here, to see how you do."
(I did a better one, but the PC shut down on me before I could finish it. So I did my best.)

Flicking her tail in excitement, Featherpaw lowered her self to the ground, ready to run after the rabbit. The rabbits ears shot upward at her movements and started to get away. Using her powerful back legs, Featherpaw pushed herself forward, gaining speed with each bound. Soon she was on the rabbits heels. Suddenly, the rabbit dove into a small den, too small for Featherpaw to get into. "Mouse-dung!" Featherpaw exclaimed, eyes wide. "I almost had it."

The tan and black tom tilted his head abit, watching his apprentice take off after the rabbit and smiled. Featherpaw was making all the right moves, tracking the rabbit and moving with every turn. But every warrior knew, that this alone wasn't fast enough to catch a rabbit and as he saw the rabbit vaish into a hole, Swiftpelt rose to his paws and bounded down to his apprentice, careful not to make a sound as he did so.
Reaching Featherpaw, he nudged the white apprentice's flank with his and nodded. "Good movement and once again, good pace." He purred, looking up at the sight of another rabbit and glanced at Featherpaw. "Now, I want you to do that again..only this time with me." He added slowly, moving forward silently with a twich of his tail. "Ready?"

Featherpaw nodded as her mentor told her what she'd done, both right and wrong. Swiftpelt was a good mentor, Featherpaw wondered if he knew that. As he mentioned hunting with him this time, her eyes were drawn to the same rabbit Swiftpelt was looking at. They would get it this time, by using team work to trap the rabbit and send it into each others paws.
Featherpaw took deep breaths to prepare her self for the hunt. Swiftpelt was considerably faster than her, and would probably be the one to chase the rabbit and she would catch it.
Thinking about how they were to do this, Featherpaw maped the possible paths the rabbit could take, there was a barley visable warren a few fox-lengths to the left of the creature, if Featherpaw blocked that path, the hunt would be much easier.
"Okay." She mewed, looking at her mentor. "Let's go."

( ....Beautiful, Feather!!!!) Swiftpelt nodded and without another word, bolted foward at the Rabbit. He knew that the rabbit would run into a hole some place, but this was Featherpaw's trainning so he would let his apprentice figre it out. Left and right, the tan and black tom kept pace with their prey, sometimes getting close to it and then pulling away. Swiftpelt only turned his head a few times to see his apprentice before quicking his pace, his heart racing but with steady breathing. "Alright, this is your catch, not mine. So make the best of it!" He yowled, leaping forward abit and triped the rabbit, making it change direction and slowed his pace. He would only pick up if he thought Featherpaw was losing her catch. Steadying his strides, the tan and black tom waited for his apprentice to react.

((OOC: Thanks! My friend Feather made it for me! No, I'm not saying that I made it, I know another Feather))

Featherpaw watched silently as her mentor began the chase, this was hers to catch, so he would chase it into her paws. If things didn't go well... Featherpaw didn't want to think about that.
Featherpaw began to run, making sure she didn't run a head of Swiftpelt quite yet. Featherpaw saw that the rabbit was making a run for a warren and quickly darted in front of it to change its course. Rabbits often ran for the comfort of their home, a place where they were safe, but not all made it. Featherpaw was to make sure that this rabbit was there to feed her clan, not feel safe in its home. Quickening her pace, Featherpaw ran the quickest route to the rabbit and got well a head of it and her mentor. If she could hide, she'd be able to get the rabbit by surprise. Crouching down in the tall grass, Featherpaw waited for her mentor to lead the rabbit towards her. Once it was running towards her blindly with fear, Featherpaw crouched, waiting for it to come into biting distance. Waiting, Featherpaw watched as the rabbit came closer and closer until it darted left at the last moment.
"Mouse-dung!" She hissed before quickly chasing after it. It was about to turn again, so Featherpaw caught it on an angle and bit down on its neck. She rolled and skidded to a stop, rabbit in her jaws, no longer moving. "I got it!" She cried out to her mentor. She was covered in dead grass and dirt, but at the moment she didn't care.

Swiftpelt slowly brought himself to a trot, his black tail curved abit to look like a question mark and a small smile showed on his dark muzzle. He had to admit, Featherpaw was showing the right moves and speed of his clan. Though, she still had alot to learn before her days of becoming a warrior. But she'll make it...as long as I teach her she will. The tan and black tom thought, chuckling abit and once again broke into a run.
Nearing the young apprentice, Swiftpelt heard her cry and quicken his pace with his tail now up in the air. But to his reliaf, found Featherpaw covered in dirt and leaves with a rabbit in her paws. "Well Done, Featherpaw. Your First Catch!" He praised, padding over to the she-cat and nudged her with one paw."Now that's the way to hunt. Just keep in mind to think ahead of your prey and never let it get away." He purred, looking up to the sky and spotted the sun dropping abit lower. Flicking his black ears back, he let his gaze fall back on his appretince and smiled.
"Now give thanks to Starclan for this catch and let's get back to camp. I don't want any of those warriors to fuss about me being late for a patrol."Swiftpelt spoke, turning around with a flick of his tail."Plus, I planned on bringing you with me on that patrol as well...That's if you want to come?" He added, glancing back at Featherpaw with a glint of amusment in his ice blue eyes.

Featherpaw felt the mouse dangling from her jaws sway in the gust of wind that passed. It's lifeless body was a sign that she was well on her way to becoming a warrior. She felt her heart speed up as her mentor mentioned a patrol. Was she ready for this, for such responsibility? Without thinking she squeaked "Of course!" She felt her tail move in excitement, she could finally do something useful for her clan, catching prey and a patrol all in one day. But as fast as her mood had come, it was gone. What would Ashpaw think? Would she think she was getting special treatment again?
Featherpaw shook off the looming mood and padded a head of her mentor, eyes blazing with excitement. She wouldn't let her sister ruin her moon, not today. If Ashpaw wanted to be a mouse-brain then that was her fault and Featherpaw wanted nothing to do with it.
Featherpaw felt her legs slip from underneath her and soon she was lying in a heap on the green grass, some of it going up her nose. She sneezed and began to purr in amusement, she didn't feel at all embarassed even though she fell in front of her mentor.

The tan and black tom couldn't help but chuckle, seeing his appentice in her chipper mood always seemed to lift his own and a smile showed on his dark muzzle. Featherpaw could become a great warrior and achive things that others couldn't, even his new leader. Yes, it was possible and Swiftpelt would make sure of it. But sometimes its best to have fun alittle, instead of working all the time. Swiftpelt thought, glancing down to see Featherpaw slip and fall into the grass.
Letting out a laugh, the tan and black tom stopped with a flick of his long black tail."Come on Featherpaw, unless you want those nasty foxes to get you!" He meowed, padding up to the white she-cat and playful nudged her with one paw. Before moving away from her however, he raised his head to scan the area and nodded slowly when he couldn't find a alian scent.
With a wave of his tail, Swiftpelt quickly left Featherpaw's side and bounded over the hill. What his apprentice didn't know, was that this was about to become another test. Making a quick turn, the warrior vaished into tall grass and slowed his pace until he was well within it. Sight was a major importence to alot of cats, but sometimes also a weakness. So to deal with that, Swiftpelt thought of making both hearing and scent more tuned. Spoting a good place to hide, the tan and black tom hid himself behind a small rock and smiled.

Featherpaw squeaked as her mentor mentioned foxes. Nasty creatures they were, she'd been told plenty about them from Talon. Sly creatures, quick witted like a cat but as big and strong as a dog. She'd also been told of their tendency to go after smaller cats but would go after any cat it could find. The only thing Featherpaw liked about them was that they ate what they caught unlike badgers who she'd been told killed what ever got in its way and for no reason at all.
Featherpaw was so engrossed in her own thoughts that while she'd been thinking Swiftpelt had left without her. She twitched her ears in slight annoyance but knew that something so small as this shouldn't bother her. Featherpaw began to head back to camp but realized after she took a few steps that Swiftpelt may not have gone back to camp. He had said he was meeting a patrol but he hadn't said where.
Featherpaw perked her ears, waiting for his call or any sound of his movement but heard nothing but the sound of the wind. She turned her head to the left, then right, looking for any sign of her mentor. She found none and resorted to smelling him out. She opened her jaws, hoping to get a strong scent of him, but didn't smell anything other than the flowers around her. Bringing her head closer to the ground Featherpaw felt her nose graze the grass and almost caused her to sneeze. Taking in a deep breath she once again couldn't scent a thing. She twitched her tail in annoyance, on the moors the wind blew scents around easily and often made it more difficult to track a cat.
Featherpaw turned her head to the left again and was pleased when she could smell Swiftpelt. He'd gone this way, she was sure of it. She followed her nose and soon she was going down another hill and she stood in front of a rock. She jumped on top and was surprised to see her mentor hiding behind it. "Hello!" She mewed, gazing down at his crouched form.
