The sun was shining brightly but a strong breeze carried away the heat before it could fully hit the meadow. Flanelle had taken up residence here recently. The beautiful gray she-cat stepped lightly through the grass. She was looking for prey at the moment. So far she'd missed a bird, and everything else had been quiet. She figured that some loners had scared off most of the prey. Just my luck... the she cat thought with a flick of her tail.
She stepped on until the wind carried a faint scent of mouse to her. She instantly pushed her body to the grass and listened. She opened her mouth and let the scent come to her. She stepped quietly through the grass toward the scent.
When a squeak called faintly, Flanelle put her paws under her body. The she-cat glanced the little brown field mouse in the grass nibbling on his own food. She quietly took a step forward then pounced at the mouse. The mouse caught sight of her the moment she did so.
The mouse bolted, and Flanelle landed. The she-cat had gotten the mouse by it's tail. "That was a close one..." the she-cat murmured. She ended the mouse quickly then took her mouse to a comfortable patch of grass. She looked up into the blue sky and the sun shined down on her gray pelt. She purred at the warmth on her pelt. She ate the mouse and then curled her tail around her body and closed her dark blue eyes, letting the sun soak through her pelt.
She drifted off into a dreamless sleep...
She woke some time later and stretched out her body. Her belly was still full and the sun was just starting its decent back down. The she-cat sat with her tail curled around her front paws and listened to the wind brushing through the meadow.

The gentle wind, the glowing sun and the beauty that the Meadow shows. Ah, yes. Such beauty and such wonderful colors that seemed to give life in a dull world. Even though leaf-bare was slowly making its way, leaf-fall had yet to lose it's touch.
Padding among the tall grass that seemed to tower over the young cat, was a dark blue tom that was called a Russian blue. Many would guess that a cat like him would be all blue with little tolorance, but this tom was different and would shock many cats in many ways. Stopping for a moment, the tom flicked his right ear back with his firey eyes staring ahead of him. His stub of a tail twitched once, feeling the wind hit his short haired pelt and slightly shook himself of the sudden coldness.
"Shesh...Leaf-bare is coming, that's for sure. But at least the sun's out." Hope meowed, resuming his movement toward a small rock that outlooked the meadow. The rock was clearly a good place to relax for a bit, able to keep a good sight of who was coming or attacking. As he reached the small rock however, Hope opened his mouth to scent the air and flicked his right ear back as he did so. Smell, sounds and the slightest movements. He was always alert for those things and seemed to be always on edge. And he had every right to be. After was seemed like hours, Hope closed his mouth and jumped onto the rock with his paws landing gracefully.
Before taking his relaxing nap, he caught from the corner of his eyes a gray clump of fur and turned his body to face the odd rock. Flicking his righ ear again, Hope slowly crouched down to watch with his head resting on his front paws. The tip of each paw was white, as well as the tip of his ears and a small white mark that was in between his eyes. His left ear however, lost part of it's tip and left a bite mark in it's place. But, the dark blue tom was slowly getting bored of this and was about to close his eyes when movement came to the odd gray rock.
Hope's head quickly rose, his eyes tuned on the spot like a piece of prey and a small smile appeared on his muzzle. A young gray she-cat sat there, her pelt seemed to glow under the sunlight and the wind made it flow like a feather. Flicking his right ear back, Hope yarned slightly before giving out his ususal greeting."Hello There! What is a she-cat like yourself doing out here?" He spoke, though with more of a dull tone to it.

Flanelle bristled in surprise. She scolded herself for letting a stranger sneak up on her. Nevertheless, she stood and faced the blue tom. With his pelt shining in the sun and him standing on a rock, she was reminded of a brave warrior that rescued she-cats in distress. She couldn't help but like the tom simply because of that alone but her past taught her not to take a cat by their outward appearance. The she- cat walked over to the tom.
"I am Flanelle and I just finished a very relaxing nap after enjoying one of the plumpest mice I have ever had the pleasure of catching. And what brings you here, stranger?" she meowed with a friendly welcome in her tone that appeared in her blue eyes as well. She jumped up onto a smaller rock beside the one the tom stood on.
She didn't really fear the other tom, she knew she could defend herself with teeth and claw better than most she-cats. "And on such a perfect day in leaf-fall too." she stated looking over the meadow's various colors of golds and greens. She just loved the meadow this time of year.

Hope, who was already seeing that she was alittle kind, flicked his right ear back with a smile on his muzzle. Already, a young she-cat was saying her name to a total stranger like himself and suddenlly wanted to laugh about it. Ah, just another she-cat with a calm nature...unlike the lovely Hinder. The dark blue tom thought, rolling his eyes at the thought of it before turning his head to look at Flanelle. Indeed, she was beautiful in every way. From the tip of her ears to her tail, not even a single piece of fur missing from her lightly glowing pelt.
Ah, yes. Hope was always studing both the toms and the she-cats that passed his way or on a simple talk. He was only one of the few to do this and since he was half deaf, this was more of a hobby. His orange-red eyes seemed to study every detail that the she-cat posed, the body that was indeed silm and her paws that could deliver quite a blow if used in the right moment. This of course, he could not help himself for it was better to see what you're up against and know what moves to make. Only in a fight. Hope reminded himself, taking notes before turning his head away. After what seemed like a few mins, the tom flicked his right ear back yet again and spoke with a cool but calm tone.
"Just to see the sights, mostly to rest and relax." Hope answered, turning his sight back on the she-cat with a slight smile. "Flanalle...Beautiful name. A name that Glows like a flower and yet, flies with the grace of a Dove." The dark blue tom added, his voice still holding his cool yet calm nature. Though, he really was trying to keep from becoming bored and the sight of the meadow was beginning to make him sick. Leaf-fall...you have yet to see Leaf-bare. He thought, glancing over at the young she-cat with a hint of boredom in his flame colored eyes.

Flanelle's first impression wasn't bad. The tom was definitely handsome but she could feel something was... off. She wasn't exactly sure what though. She sat down on her rock. She noticed him roll his eyes and flicked her ear thinking that maybe he thought her to open. She wrapped her tail around her paws.
She felt his gaze on her pelt and kept herself from bristling. She never really got used to glances from toms. The image of the first tom she'd known flashed through her brain. She held back the growl that wanted to escape her. She looked him over and accessed what the other tom was capably of should this tom prove to be a rouge looking for a fight.
She flicked her tail at her paws as he spoke. The comment about her name had her more cautious. Is this tom flirting with me? Her left ear flicked and her eyes flashed with confusion as she looked at the tom.
"A very nice name, if I had chosen it." Flanelle said calmly glancing away from the tom and watching the wind move the tall grass in waves. Her thoughts drifted for a few moments then she realized that she didn't even know this tom's name.
She turned back to the tom unfolding her gray tail from her paws. "I see that you neglect to tell me your name. Is that intentional? I understand that not all cats are as open about their identity as I am." She meowed this with an almost cold seriousness. She also noticed the boredom in his eyes. She felt a wave of agitation flow over her pelt.
If this tom is so bored with me then maybe he should leave.
She felt her claws unsheathe and realizing this calmed herself and retracted them.

The dark blue tom slightly twitched his whiskers in amusment, hearing the sudden tone chance in the gray she-cat's voice and his flame colored eyes fell back onto Flanelle with a smile on his muzzle. He really didn't like to explain something that he himself would nomally do, but yet, most of the cats he knew that came across him were mostly ones that spoke of anger or taunts about him. Hope had never once spoke to a she-cat about what he does, though he had many reasons not to. Like Hinder. He thought again, though this time with a slight chuckle and nodded.
"Forgive me, if I have been rude." He meowed calmly, his eyes hardly showing any sign of bordom. "I tend to do that to many cats that I happen to meet. So sometimes I tend to stare at them for a long amount of time." Hope tilted his head with a flick of his right ear as the wind gentle blew by them, once again giving the tom a slight chill down his spine. Shaking his body a bit, he turned to look at the meadow with a small sigh. "Some are not so open as you are, keeping their names to themselves is like keeping everyone else out of their mind. Or so to speak." The tom mewed, leaning foward a bit as if he was about to leap off of the rock and turned his head slightly toward her. "But then, that's mostly what cowards would do to look tough. So yes, My name is Hope." He added with a chuckle, now feeling even more amused then ever.
