Onyxpaw thought about what Pantherclaw had just said. He was right. It couldn't fight forever. The fox was glaring towards the others. This could be his chance to end this. Onyxpaw lept towards the fox's head. Blowing into the the creature, he swiped his claws at it's throat. He then hit the ground hard. Looking up he saw the fox lying in the spot it had been standing a moment ago. Is it dead? he asked himself as he got up. He felt tired from the fight. Cautiously, he walked over to the heap of rust coloured fur.

Pantherclaw's eyes widened in surprise to see the his apprentice so quickly slashed the fox down. The brute didn't even have time to yelp in pain before it fell to the ground, lying motionless there.
"Careful,"the black-furred tom hissed to his apprentice, using his tail to bar Onxypaw away from the unmoving fox. Pantherclaw slowly slinked forward, watching the flank of the fox to see if it still rose. His eyes spotted no familiar rise and fall of the flank. Blood was already spilling out slowly from the slash marks on its neck and its eyes were half close and glazed over.
"Nice job Onyxpaw,"Pantherclaw whispered, in awe that his newly trained apprentice had already taken down a fox.

Onyxpaw panted heavily. He felt tired from the fight with the fox. Will I always be this tired after a fight? He asked himself. He stared at the creature laying on the ground before him. He had just defeated a fox, of course he would be tired. He wondered if Pantherclaw and Skyleaper were tired as well.
He shook all thoughts from his mind. The camp was safe now. He looked back to his mentor. "Pantherclaw," He replied, still panting. "Are we going to go back to the camp soon?"

Pantherclaw gave his apprentice a sympathetic and praising pat along the back with his tail.
"Of course. You fought your first battle well. I'll be sure to tell Haggarstar of your progress today. You may take the rest of the day off. I think we're all tired after fighting this fox,"the jet-black tom meowed, his yellow eyes glancing at the motionless fox.
Leave it, maybe other predators can satisfy themselves with the carcass,the Dawnclan warrior thought.
