Sorrowhowl had already approached White-eyes about a patrol. The river was looking low, so he was going to ask some cats to come with him. With a cough, he sat in the middle of camp and tried to speak. All that came out was whispers. Gah, he thought. Speaking up is harder than I thought.
"Um, could... four or f-five cats come w-with me to... patrol the river? Wh-White-eyes has already said we can go..." he trailed off and stared into the floor, embarrassed at this. Why was he so nervous?

In the corner of the camp beside a clump of reeds, the young apparentice Ospreypaw lay grooming by himself. He didn't mind being by himself that much, but it was always nice to have company. The poor tom didn't understand why cats chose not to be in his company if they could help it - he was polite, and he certainly wasn't boring, so what was it that drove them away? Raising his head with his tongue still sticking out, he paused when he saw Sorrowhoul sit in the middle of camp, as if he was about to say something. It was obvious what was going to happen, which was what gripped the young apprentices attention. The grey-and-black tom scrambled to his paws and, byt he time he reached the cat, was buzzing with excitment. His fur stood on end and his tail was held high.
"A patrol? Oh boy!" He meowed out loud, his green eyes sparkling. A chance to show off his awesome skills, taught by his mentor White-eyes. Bounding closer to the tom, he lifted his front legs and pawed his shoulder, meowing: "Hey- hey can I come? I know I'm not a warrior yet but puh-leeeeease I promise I won't mess up I'm such a good hunter and a tracker and a... um... please can I come!" He practically begged the older cat, placing his paws back on the ground.

"I'd like to come along too," a quiet voice added. A dark gray and black she-cat padded up, her face calm and expressionless yet tail flicking as she came up. She rested her tail on Ospreypaw to calm him down. "I'm sure you can come,"Tundraheart reassured, sitting down to wait for the younger warrior to give orders.

Foresteyes how about a better version of the way that I am?sitting by herself on the edge of camp, eyes wide open, foresteyes tried to ignore the sounds of the camp. she didn't want anything to do with her clanmates today, she was not having a good day, which she rarely had anyways. she was shutting down from the outside world and sinking into the world of foresteyes. into her mind. a terrifying place to most, but a comfortable and swell home that she loved. wrapping her silver tail around petite paws, and laid her ears back. any cat outside of her clan would say she looked scared, but her clanmates knew she was just being foresteyes.
the call of a fellow member who was not the deputy nor her leader. curiosity killed the cat. perking her ears, she uncoiled herself and stood up, quivering slightly as she pulled herself completely back into reality. walking towards sorrowhowl, foresteyes kept her tail down between her legs and avoided touching her clanmates in anyway. they still didn't know about her running stunt dead into fireclan territory, but she felt sick knowing she was lying to them. shaking the thought off foresteyes looked at the cats who were gathered and debated about whether or not she should lend her assistance.
"i'll accompany you sorrowhowl." she said with a shaky confidence. shooting glances to the cats around herm she felt their gazes burning into her pelt with a dark disgust. she shuddered, and her head dropped slightly.

Sorrowhowl smiled at Ospreypaw. He could tell White-eyes would have her paws full every time she left camp with him. "Yes, you can come Ospreypaw." he flashed a look of thanks at Tundraheart, though his heart sank. She had been Lasspaw's mentor until she died. He looked away as Foresteyes padded over, saying she would come as well. "Ah, yeah." the tom coughed. He was about to call for someone else when Clearpaw padded over. "Okay then. We'll go check out the river first. White-eyes told me the level of the water is going down and the fish are disappearing. We're going to go upstream and see what's going on." the tom spoke with mock confidence, flicking his ear. He rose and padded towards the entrance of camp, slipping through with Clearpaw beside him, hanging like a shadow. He walked a few foxlengths from the entrance, and waited for the others.

Tundraheart followed after calmly with her plume tail swishing behind her with every step she took. Her eyes looked slightly troubled, thinking about what their mission was. Cats were already growing thin with the lack of prey during leaf-bare, it'll be worse if the water-level problem doesn't clear up soon. She just hoped they'll be able to figure out the problem soon or cats will die. "Do you think it's because of Twolegs again?"the warrior asked Sorrowhowl, her whiskers twitching.

Foresteyes how about a better version of the way that I am?shooting a glance out of the side of her dark green eyes, the silver tabby stepped back a few paces and let sorrowhowl past. she wasn't sure why she had offered to accompany the she-cat, she wouldn't have been any good for it anyways. for all they knew, she might just go into a state of crazy; as was her way. but the she-cat was fairly certain that she would survive throughout this little attack without a panic attack.
watching as the two cats padded off together, foresteyes thought for a second before releasing a sigh from her deep within her chest. time to go do my warrior like duties for these lying, scheming scum of a clan. she thought in the sincerest way possible about these creatures that called themselves a clan. all they did was lie and betray each other. they sickened her. but this was her home as much as she hated to admit it.
swiftly catching up to the two cats, foresteyes caught the last half of what tundraheart said and had to hold back a scoff and had to stop herself from rolling her eyes. foresteyes was fairly certain that tundraheart had no interest about whether it involved two-legs or not. more lies ... a shudder shook her silver tabby body as she followed in silence.
