The dark gray she-cat sat near the riverbank, her plume tail wrapped tightly around her paws. Her icy blue eyes stared ahead of her, patiently waiting for her apprentice to emerge into her line of vision. Her ears slightly angled towards the stream beside her, listening to the steady flow of the water that passed through the endless river. It was quite soothing to listen to, a steady pattern that never dies. But the flow of the rhythmic river will soon be disturbed by splashing paws. As soon as Honeypaw appears, Tundraheart will begin teacher her new apprentice how to get used to the water.

Honeypaw padded quickly over to her mentor, a bounce in her step. Snow crunched delightfully under her paws, leaving her own unique trail. She turned to face the dark gray she-cat, ears and tail high, tip slightly curved. She loved being in the water. Although she didn't know how to control herself in it yet. Bright yellow-green eyes shone happily, reflecting in the stream next to her. "Can we start?" She mewed enthusiastically, hoping they would, soon. Paws wrapped in many stripes, a palette of autumn colors, fidgeting absentmindedly.

Tundraheart sighted her apprentice Honeypaw hopping over with enthusiasm in her gait and eyes. Tundraheart gave a flick of greeting with her tail, standing up to face her apprentice. "Of course,"the she-cat mewed. "Why don't we start by teaching you how to swim,"she prompted. "Get into the stream, and see how much instinct you have in you,"Tundraheart mewed, gesturing with her tail towards the river, inviting Honeypaw to start.
((Muse sucks sorry -.-))

"Okay!" Honeypaw flicked her tail slightly, turning to face the steady stream. She took a breath, stretching out her lithe figure, whiskers twitching as she got ready to dive. She was ready. Powerful hind legs pushed back against the ground, sending her into the stream with a small splash. Splashing paws disturbed the rhythmic flow of the river, as she struggled to keep her head above the water. Soon, she got used to it, head bobbing slightly above the water. Tabby pelt was plastered to her skin, although the water felt good on her skin. She looked up at her mentor. "Now what?"

Tundraheart, though her expression didn't show it, was quite impressed by her apprentice's quick adaptability to the water. She could tell this young cat was going to be a great swimmer, but will she become a good hunter?
"Very good. Now try to swim around a few fox-lengths to get the feel of the current. Using your legs to kick the water and glide through. Your tail will help you steer through the water,"the dark gray she-cat mewed.

Honeypaw nodded slightly, blocking out the sounds of the lively forest, focusing in on the swishes of the water, the traces of the current. Legs pushed against the force of the water, propelling her forward. She was fascinated by this, in some sort of manner. She burst into a giggle fit, turning her head this way and that, looking at the rip through the current, where she had just passed. Using her tail, she steered herself right back around, shaking her head to send drops of water against the grass. She looked up at her mentor, smiling. "Like that?"

Tundraheart nodded in approval, watching Honeypaw's every movement with her ice-blue eyes. She made sure the young apprentice was using the more efficient way of swimming through, and Honeypaw did seem to catch on pretty quickly. "Nicely done. But keep your moves slow and graceful. Too quick can cause you to lose energy. And keep splashing to a minimum. Being quick and silent is the key to hunting fish and also for sneaking up on enemies"

Honeypaw thought for a moment. Nodded slowly. Slow and graceful.. The light brown tabby inhaled, chest puffing out. She ducked underwater, darting forward with a thrust back thrust of all her four paws. She twisted her lithe body, slowing her speed a bit. Her pelt camouflaged into the sandy riverbed, leaving foes with an undetectable enemy. Mistclan warriors were skilled in swimming. They were in some danger if caught in the water with one. She rose slowly to the surface, gazing up at her mentor, hoping that had been slow and graceful. She didn't know, she was busy having fun. "Was.. that okay?" She gave a nervous chuckle, drenched paws resting on the riverbank. She wanted to impress her mentor, but the dark gray she-cat's expression hadn't changed at all.

Tundraheart nodded slowly, critically looking over her apprentice with her icy blue eyes. "I think you've got it down. Now get back onto the bank and let me teach you how to fish on land first. We'll practice in the water later,"the dark-gray she-cat meowed. She padded towards the river's edge and sat down, making sure her shadow didn't touch the water at all. "Please try not to splash up here or we'll have to wait a long time for a fish to come by if you scare them all away,"the warrior growled.

Honeypaw looked up to Tundraheart, ears slightly flattening. Her mentor didn't look very pleased at all. She must be disappointed. She clambered up slowly to the riverbank, copying her mentor's position. She sat, still dripping wet, her shadow making no contact with the river. The young apprentice nodded slightly, careful not to send any drops into the river, to startle any fish. She was going to get this right. She was going to impress Tundraheart. "O-okay." She stammered, nervously working her paws into the ground.

"Extend your paw out and poise it over the water to get it ready,"Tundraheart instucted, reaching out her own paws to hover near the edge of the water. "The biggest thing you need to do is to remain motionless like a rock. And be patient. Only then, will a fish come by your way,"the dark gray she-cat meowed calmly, keeping her icy blue eyes fixed on the water. After a few heartbeats, a flash of silver darted through the river and Tundraheart lashed out quickly. Her paw darted into the water and quickly withdrew like a bee sting, and a flopping fish was now stuck in her claws. "Be quick too, or the fish will slip out of your claws. Now your turn,"Tundraheart meowed, slapping the now dead fish onto the ground and flicking her tail for Honeypaw to follow her example.

"Extend your paw out and poise it over the water to get it ready," Tundraheart instucted, Honeypaw watching the she-cat's movements closely.
"The biggest thing you need to do is to remain motionless like a rock. And be patient. Only then, will a fish come by your way," She hesitated a moment, then nodded, listening carefully and trying to absorb everything her mentor was showing and teaching her. The small tabby watched the water, sighting a small silver body rip through the steady current. A dark gray paw flashed into the river, sending drops of water flying. As soon as her paw had hit the water, it was out. With a fish attached.
"Be quick too, or the fish will slip out of your claws. Now your turn," Her mentor meowed. Honeypaw felt slightly nervous, tail flicking. She took her position, raising her paw above the water. She tried to be still, although shaking a little bit. A few moments passed between them, before a silver line rippled through the water. She flashed her paw in the water. Gripped on the prey. Pulled it out of its shelter. But when it was out, it slipped out of her claws, slipping back into safety. "Fox-dung!" She hissed under her breath. Unsuccessful. Right infront of her mentor.

((If it makes things easier for you, you can put the other spoken dialogue in italics. That's what most members do here. Or they put it in a different color. But your choice :3)) Tundraheart's tail flicked slightly to the left and her whiskers twitched slightly. But from disappointment or amusement, one couldn't tell. "It was close, but you might want to keep your paws curved in so your claws serve as a hook. That way, the fish can't slip out. Another way is to use your teeth to grip it tightly as it comes out,"the warrior prompted waiting

(( oh, right, sometimes i just forget to do italics, hurr ))
Honeypaw noticed her mentor's plume tail twitching slightly. She let out a small sigh. Tundraheart was probably disappointed. "It was close, but you might want to keep your paws curved in so your claws serve as a hook. That way, the fish can't slip out. Another way is to use your teeth to grip it tightly as it comes out," The she-cat nodded slightly, determined to get it right this time. "Okay.."
Paw extended, hovering above the water. Shadow hid on the riverbank. Steady as a rock. Curving her paw slightly in, unsheathed claws served as hooks. They waited patiently. A few minutes of silence passed. Only then did gleaming silver scales zoom by. She grabbed at the chance, plunging her paw into the water. Claws grasped at flesh. As it erupted from the water, she nipped it, tossing the lifeless body onto the ground.
"How was that?" She mewed happily, gleaming.

"Better,"Tundraheart nodded, almost in a thoughtful way. "You'll, of course, need more practice to get consisten success, but I'll let you do that on your own time."the long-furred she-cat meowed. "I guess I'll show you how to catch fish in the water,"she decided, standing up. She lightly lept into the water, feeling the water swish through her underbelly and legs, soaking into her fur. Though, as a Mistclan cat, she didn't mind the wetness or the cold. "Watch your step,"she called up to Honeypaw, who was at the bank.

"Better," The she-cat sighed happily. "You'll, of course, need more practice to get consistent success, but I'll let you do that on your own time." "Oh, yeah. I'm going to practice after this." She nodded. Heh, I do need the practice. She blinked away her thoughts, listening closer now. "I guess I'll show you how to catch fish in the water," Her mentor stepped forward, easily leaping into the water. "Watch your step," I know what I'm doing.. Ease in her manner, she emulated Tundraheart's stride, leaping lightly into the water. The gentle waves lapped at her pelt. She didn't mind.
"Now what?" She mewed eagerly.

"This is going to be a little bit trickier since your shadow will always fall into the water,"Tundraheart explained carefully. "The best time to use this technique is during sunhigh, since that is when your shadow is the smallest. Stand in the middle of of the river and face against the current. This way, the fish will easily swim towards you and have a hard time escaping from you." As the dark gray she-cat spoke, she slowly wadded near the middle, the water already up to her belly fur. "Just make it as far as you can while touching your paws to the bottom. We can work on swimming and catching later,"Tundraheart advised. "Once again, be patient. Once it comes to you, snatch it quickly with your teeth,"the she-cat explained. Then she remained silent, watching the water intently, never leaving her gaze from the endless flow of the current. A slippery fish suddenly sped towards Tundraheart and the Mistclan warrior reacted instantly. Her head lunged forward, ducking into the water. A hearbeat later, her head emerged with a fish in the jaws. She quickly tossed the fish up to the bank before turning her attention back to her apprentice. "Make sure you don't swallow any water in."

She watched intently as Tundraheart demonstrated the exercise. Honeypaw tossed her head back slightly, shrugging. "This seems easy." She mewed, taking position in the center of the river. She shifted in place, trying to get comfortable. Not long after, she steadied herself. Unmoving. She narrowed her eyes, intent on the river flow.
A gleam of silver, a flash of gold, reflecting off the fish's scales. The light blinded her for a heartbeat, the next, she was lunging forward, head plunging into the depths of blue. She grasped it tight in her jaws, pulling out of the river. Lightly tossing it onto the bank, she turned back to face her mentor.

Tundraheart nodded slowly. "A bit sloppy, but I guess you got the hang of it,"Tundraheart decided her blue eyes narrowed. "Try to catch two more and we'll try something else. And this time, try not to splash too much or it'll alert other fish or predators around. Other than that, you're doing fine." The she-cat flicked her tail, prompting Honeypaw to continue. Meanwhile, the dark gray she-cat slowly waded out of the river and lept lightly onto the bank. River water streamed down her fur and whiskers, making her seem skinnier than usual. However, Tundraheart seemed immune to the cold air that touched her wet pelt as she didn't bother to shake all the hanging droplets off her pelt. Instead, she picked up the fishes that she and Honeypaw caught and buried them under a nest of reeds nearby.

Honeypaw shrugged, doing as her mentor said. One fish, two fish. After she was done doing that specific exercise, she waded up to the bank, sitting next to Tundraheart. Droplets streamed off her whisker and pelt, but the young apprentice didn't seem bothered by it. She sighed slightly, looking at the sky. It was getting dark. "Now?" She meowed, eager to learn more. ..But not at this time. It was already late. Jaws stretched wide in a yawn, as she waited for an answer from the dark gray she-cat.

Tundraheart nodded as Honeypaw managed to catch the number of fish she needed, and quite skilled at that. "We'll continue tomorrow. I think that's enough for today. Tomorrow morning, I want you and another apprentice of your choice to come with you. Perhaps two so you guys can be more productive. It'll also give you a chance to practice your new skills." The dark gray she-cat flicked her tail, waiting for her apprentice to respond.

"Okay."'The she-cat mewed simply. She didn't have many friends, mostly because of her kittypet blood. But maybe Chillpaw wanted to come, she thought brightly. "That sounds good." She dipped her head to her mentor, before trailing off, back to camp.
Her stomach growled, legs weary from swimming. As soon as she got to the clearing, she washed herself, ate, then headed to the apprentice den. Smiling to herself, she playfully swiped at the air, imagining herself in a battle. I can't wait to be a warrior!

A light brown tom's ears flitted up as he heard footsteps near the entrance of the den. His small head raised and pale blue eyes flashed in the dim lighting of the den. "Oh, hi Honeypaw!"Walnutpaw greeted, flicking his tail up. "Did you need something?"
