Willow River. A place full of life, ranging from lush green forest growth to thriving prey that would literally hop underneath your claws for you to catch. Rainstorm could clearly see why rogues would choose to steal prey from Mist Clan's territory. A black shadow slithered from cover to cover stealthily and silently. Gentle green eyes scans the area, a tail raised and paused in mid-air. This is Rainstorm, a cat that had long mastered the arts of silent stalking, she's only too used to the shadows of the forest and the cover of the wet terrains. Silent stalking was taught to her for catching prey for the clan but only now she's not stalking prey, but cats.
Recently, there's been an increase of reports of rogues stealing prey from Mist Clan's borders, and they all came from Willow River. Rainstorm was asked to lead a patrol of seven cats to clear of this trouble. Her tail dropped a bit, she should get to know her patrol members more now, so that if a fight happens... at least they'll know how to cooperate together when they know each other more. But how should she start? Ever since her brother left her she had stopped talking to others, she'd felt disconnected from the clan, as if she's not part of them anymore. After all, she WAS found on the border of Mist Clan. She's not clan born.
Peeking around the tree she's hiding behind of, sighing in relief that there's no apparent rogues so far. Maybe it could be all a misunderstanding, maybe there were no rogues at all, then they all can avoid a fight. Turning around to face the rest of the patrol, the slim female twitched uncomfortably before whispering softly. "We'll wait here and observe for now, if you see any sign of rogues notify me first, don't attack. We should try to negotiate first, any questions?"

Rogues. What could be worse on ones territory? Fire, maybe. Perhaps another clan, too. But rogues were the worst of all. They weren't afraid of attacking cats that were alone. The worst part was they'd mate with who they wished, be she clan cat or non. Females bound to unwanted kits was a burden upon the clan, as well, depleting precious food so badly that some cats had to go without it for a day or so, as no one was abosl*tely certain of getting a meal except the queens, the kits and the elders, hence why they couldn't afford to lose any prey to anyone, loner, rogue, even another animal. So, this was why this patrol was called for. It was a large group, though quiet and experienced they were. They were headed by Rainstorm, someone Sorrowhowl could have felt a kinship to, had he not been mourning the loss of his dear Lasspaw. The cat he felt most kinship to was Brokencyde, but he had a new mate, so there was less kinship there. The white tom felt alone in the world. Sure, Mudfur and Duststorm were his friends, but Mudfur and Everlast... he could see it was going to happen, even if all the clan tried to stop it, they were to become mates. Duststorm was always busy with her apprentice, anyway. The only cat Sorrowhowl ever felt he could truly call family was Lasspaw, and she was dead now. There was nothing but White-eyes who spurred him to remain in the clan. More than once had the half-blooded prince thought about becoming a loner, perhaps a rogue. It had even crossed his mind he could become a kittypet, though he doubted any twoleg were to take in a scarred tom like himself.
The warrior twitched his ears as he heard the soft, quiet voices of the rogues. Amongst the chatter he could hear the munching of old bones and fish. His hackles raised by the slightest of centimetres as he listened to the lawless gang eat fish that was rightfully MistClan's. He flicked his tail, itching to fight, but he relaxed slightly as Rainstorm told them to wait for her call. The tom looked over his shoulder to see the calm deputy sitting, watching with eerie white eyes, unseeing and yet she could see everything that was going on through emotions and sounds and smells. She sat quietly, tail swishing back and forth. Sorrowhowl knew the she-cat would make a fine leader, and for a while, he envied her position. If he was deputy, then he could become leader, and when he got his nine lives maybe he would see his sweet Lasspaw, if only once more. He craved to hear her voice, to see her soft smile and to rub against her lovingly.
Fate was cruel. White-eyes was still deputy, and Sorrowhowl had seen little to nothing of Puddlestar. He wondered why. Was she shirking her duties? He knew plenty of the clan, and cats of other clans, thought that you had to have trained as a warrior, trained a few apprentices and been around to know how to lead. Many were looking forward to new moons of peace with the wise mother White-eyes as leader. He knew how disappointed and enraged the deputy had been when Puddlestar came to camp, saying she'd returned from her journey and StarClan made her leader. No one had been warned about it. Stonefang, Waterlily and White-eyes were all surprised, though Waterlily was happy, Stonefang, for a while, refuse to believe such blasphemous claims, grumbling about how a medicine cat should stay a medicine cat until they retire or die, not go gallivanting off on some 'epic quest' to find themselves, then be told by StarClan they were to be leader. Nonsense, the tom had said. He had been a warrior before hand, but it was only when Waterpaw was in desperate need of a mentor that Stonefang recalled what his sister (who had been training to be a medicine cat until her death) had told him about medicine, then was told more each time they went to the Moonstone to speak with StarClan.
The white tom gave a low sigh as he listened to the murmurs of his clanmates. If they couldn't get rid of the rogues now, MistClan may be in a lot of trouble in the future.

Brokencyde gazed at Sorrowhowl and gave him a friendly nudge. His haunted eyes spoke for him they siad I know what you're going through....i went through the same thing... Brokencyde hoped Sorrowhowl understood. He heard the hisses and munching of the rogues. His lip curled back showing his sharp white teeth. He felt a growl rising to his throat but he held it back. His fur puffed out making him appear even bigger than what he already was. He waited for the yowl that meant attack!

So what would her brother do in this situation? The ashen colored cat kneaded the dirt with worry prickling along her short grown hair. Her brother was an outgoing cat, it was always easy for him to strike conversations with others, and in those cases he'll always include Rainstorm in... somehow. But now, without him to help her make connections to others... she might as well be a loner.
Thinking back, she MIGHT be a loner, afterall she and her brother were found on the borders of Mist Clan. Left alone. The snap of a twig nearly made Rainstorm jump out of her fur, her ears instantly flattened against her head and only too helpfully her mind blanked out on her.
As the cracks of leaves and murmurings grew louder Rainstorm forced her numbed mind to work. She could feel the agitated and stern glances casted at her back waiting for that one signal that could mean war. She swallowed slowly, and carefully peeked 'round her trunk to find the rogues busily (and let's say noisily) eating Mist Clan's prey, prey that could fill one of her clan mate's empty belly. Anger seeped into the dark grey cat's fur as her whisker twitched in annoyance from the thought. Slowly paw by paw she crept closer to the rogues, nearly snorting to herself seeing how carefree the rogues are acting eating THEIR prey without a care in the world. They soon would be regretting it though.
The slick tail glided from one side to another, silently, gracefully and the patrol fanned out to surround the rogues. Her soft eyes scanned to her left and right, and made eye-contact with the nearest warriors, which happened to be Brokenclyde and Sorrowhowl. She dipped her head slowly and carefully signalling that everyone should be on their guards, then counting to three she stood up and out of the shadows the yell in a loud voice.
"Stop where you are!" The grey she-cat hissed, her tail lashed once and subsided as she tried her best to muster the most confident look she could. "You rogues have been stealing one too many prey from Mist Clan's territory, it's time for you to stop, I ask that you leave Mist Clan's territory at once and never return or blood would be shed."
Star clan help me! Please leave in peace..

Sorrowhowl nodded in thanks to Brokencyde. He'd just been an apprentice when Lilydawn had been mysteriously murdered in camp. They had never found the culprit, and no one had any idea who it may have been. After that had happened many cats were wary of each other, sticking in groups of three or four, just in case one of them was the murderer, they'd have another cat to back them up, yet in all those moons, no one had been charged or even had a claw pointed at them in accusation of the murder of a very sweet she-cat. Sorrowhowl couldn't remember Lilydawn that much, except she was very kind to all cats she met, and that the love she and Brokencyde shared knew no bounds until she was claimed by StarClan to live eternally until the cat she loved joined her in the Silverpelt. He flicked his yellow orbs to the sky, hoping Lasspaw was up there, looking down on him. His heart ached to hear her voice again. Every fibre of his being willed her to just... come into a dream and see him again, to let him breath in her scent and feel her soft, warm fur and her beautiful voice.
When his eyes connected with Rainstorm, he felt a kinship to her as well. Her brother had died, and many had guessed a rogue or loner killed him, though it was more likely the former as loners usually did not care for the clans, and were non-aggressive when confronted by a warrior and would leave without question, usually. He flicked his tail across her shoulder, hoping she would get that he would stick with her if any occasion rose where they needed to fight. MistClan needed to stick together. Leafbare was coming, and those rogues were taking valuable prey that could feed the elders and queens, who really needed food in this time of year. His tail fell quickly to swish beside his back feet as he stared, angry citrine eyes narrowing as Rainstorm nodded to give a signal. Without a word, the white tom bounded up a tree, bright pelt blending in with the ice and snow than clung to the branches like a newborn kit to it's mother.
He let out a soft snarl, watching the rogues react to Rainstorm's voice. Some took no notice whilst others stood, hissing, fur on end and hackles raised, claws ready to strike out at any foolish cat who dared dart through the dying ferns to defend prey and territory. They stank. Sorrowhowl tried not to throw up a hairball as he breathe in their scent. It stunk of dead, rotting fish and monsters, and the twolegplace. How kittypets smelled if they'd been out too long. He didn't know how they could stand stinking so badly, or how they could just waltz past border territories which were clearly scentmarked, too! They had some nerves, those rogues did, nerve enough that Sorrowhowl wanted to jump down on one of their backs and tear out their eyes, but he wasn't going to stoop to the level of a murderer, no, not like those who had murdered cats in MistClan; Duskstar, Lilydawn, Sorrowhowl's own mentor too. These rogues would pay, either with their lives, or their furs. Either way, they would not get away unscathed.

A dark furred tabby tom with ragged fur was scarfing down a vole, his teeth savagely attacking the piece of prey, snarling at his companions when they tried to take a bite out of his prey. It belonged to him and no one else! His maw was caked with the prey's blood, not bothering at all to clean himself as he finished the remains of the vole, bone and all. "Hurry up you fools! We gotta get out of here. There will be mangy Clan cats around soon,"the dark rogue growled, his yellow eyes flitting around for any signs of enemy. His nose was only filled with the scent of dead prey and his friends that he couldn't wiff out any Clan scent.
"Keke, ya scared Rock?"a white and ginger tom sneered, looking up from the dead fish he was eating. "Why don't you run with your tail between your legs? More prey for us,"Rag snickered. Two other rogues nearby snickered too.
Rock writhed back his lips in a snarl, "Tch, no. I'm not scared." His filthy tail flickered to and fro irritably, glaring between his companions with loathing eyes.
"I bet those Clans are just myths. Probably just some pampered kittypets around here," a tabby rouge added, maliciously smiling and showing yellowing, jagged teeth.
"Besides, we're not helpless fools. We know how to fight. Those so called Clans cats are rumored to be noble. If I were them, I'd kill any cat that'd cross my way. But those cats sound like they're cowards,"Weed, a wiry brown tom, hissed.
Suddenly, a loud yowl interrupted the bickering rogues and all whipped around, wide-eyed to see a patrol of well-fed cats surrounding them.
"Oh yea? You want to fight kitties?"Rag snarled at Rainstorm, glaring at the warrior with harsh geen eyes. His companions' furs all bristled and claws slid out, prepared to fight.

Sorrowhowl acted on instinct when the rogue snarled at Rainstorm. Perched up in the tree, he snarled back at the tom, jumping down the branches and landing beside Rainstorm. His scars had an almost eerie looking glow, and they gave him an appearance of being a much older tom. His white fur bristled and his yellow eyes burned with rage as he stared at the tom before him. Ignorant cowards, he thought, tail tip twitching as he waited for a signal from Rainstorm; she was the leader of this patrol, and he couldn't move until she allowed him.
"You know we won't let you escape without kicking your asses first," Sorrowhowl snarled, laying his ragged, torn ears flat on his head and unsheathing long, sharp claws. He hadn't properly used them since Demonstar, and they were itching to rake down one of their flanks. "You will pay for stealing our prey!" the tom snarled, digging his claws into the soil, holding himself back from attacking them before Rainstorm gave the signal.

The wiry brown tom stalked up near the cat that had just appeared, snarling and showing a cocky grin. "You wanna try me kitty? You got those ugly scars from a kittypet fight? Huh?"Weed taunted, wheezing with laughter and making a feint swipe at Sorrowhowl.
"Enough Weed,"Rock growled, lashing his tail, his yellow eyes flitting between all the warriors cats nervously.
"Don't be a mouse-heart Rock,"the tabby rogue hissed at his friend, his yellowing teeth also bared in a growl. "These pampered kitties are no match for us!"Gravel bragged, hissing tauntingly at the warriors.
"C'mon pretty, let us go huh? There's plenty of prey around. A hot she-cat like you shouldn't deal with this mess,"Rag meowed to Rainstorm, green eyes loftily looking over her. He raised a paw and licked it slowly, sliding out his silver claws menacingly. "Or else...I'm going to have to scar that pretty little face of yours,"he hissed ominously.

Sorrowhowl snarled and batted away the rogue's paw. His yellow eyes narrowed as he poked fun at his scars. "Don't be such a fool," he hissed loudly, tail flicking erratically from left to right. "You have no idea and you never will, stupid rogue scum!" he snarled. He was trying to be good-natured but obviously when it came to arrogant rogues like this group, his good nature evaded him. How he wanted to rake his claws down their smug little faces and send them running home to mommy.
He was trying to keep a hold of himself, but when one of them dared look at his clanmate Rainstorm and speak to her in that manner, something snapped. He pushed forward, so close to Rag that their noses were almost touching. "How dare you speak to Rainstorm like that, arrogant fleabag. I'm in the right mind to teach you a lesson in how to treat she-cats, because you're certainly not very good at it!" he snarled, claws scraping the ground in pure rage at Rag. He had planned to leap on the rogue's back, but he didn't want to endanger any other cats, because rogue's fought dirty. "And, you fail to remember we have a whole clan waiting back at camp that won't hesitate to come and reinforce us. What do you have? Five of ye? Six of ye? You're no match for MistClan!"

Brokencyde let out a ferocious snarl. He got in Weed's face. His muscles rippled throughout his body. "Kittypets?" he snarled. "You look more like a kittypet to me." he taunted. "Look at yourself you mangy rogue...i'm surprised you can even hunt for yourself!" he growled fury dancing in his venomous green eyes. "If you think you're so tough then make a move and i will personally kick your mangy ass!" he growled.

Well things didn't really go as... planned. Who knew the rogues would actually have to nerve to walk up so close to the warriors? She bit back a snarl when the one named as Weed swiped at Sorrowhowl, her silver claws slid out like razors. "Move away from him!" the sentence exploded out of her leaving her with no time to retract it. How dare this rogue insult one of Mist Clan's warriors?! Shoving past Sorrowhowl in anger she stood nose to nose with the arrogant white ginger tom. Her light green eyes had iced over with fury, her knife sharp claws churned the damp soil around, aching for action. "We'll see who'll ruin who's pretty face, rogue." she spat. The graceful young female's pelt was standing on ends, prickling as if there were lightning running over it. "You've overstayed your welcome you mangy rogues, as a cat I would have let you be. As a warrior of Mist Clan I would have negotiate with you guys and give you another chance to leave before sundown, but as me, Rainstorm, as a female, I will tear your dirty pelts off your hides, piece by piece. You've treaded on our soil, stole our prey, but you WILL NOT spit or insult our pride!" |
[/color] the grey cat hissed as she launched herself towards Rag, spitting with rage. Tumbling with the wiry tom she managed a weak pin on the tom, she was never born strong and had always cursed her weakness, she was never placed at the front lines but always the one who controls and plans, would this rash action break her in the end? Anger clouded her thoughts as she growled at the tom pinned beneath her, the others would've dived into action already, but for now this tom needs to learn how to keep his trap shut. "Kittypets, kittypets! That's all you say! But we're not like those soft toned cats, you've chose the wrong group to mess with! I'll make sure you'll take back every kittypet insult you've spat at us, every single one of them! Brokencyde let out a snarl. He couldn't take it anymore! All this anger built up inside him just unleashed on Weed. He let out a growl and launched himself at Weed and pinned him and bit his cheek with his sharp white teeth. He sank his long claws into his sides and tore at him. "Leave or you'll die." he hissed in his ear so only Weed would hear.

Weed snickered again,"What? You too embarrassed to say where you got those scars kitty?"
"Probably got beat up by some kit I say,"Gravel taunted, laughing loudly and lashing his tail.
Rag also grinned slightly, relishing in the moment of taunting these cats. They sure were all talk. These so called warriors were full of threatening words yet none had made a move yet. As the tom Sorrowhowl pushed between him and the she-cat, Rag's eyes glittered. "Who's she, your girlfriend? I say she's too pretty for you,"Rag sniggered. "Hey pretty, dump this tom, I'm way better than he is,"the ginger and white tom prompted, his tone full of amusement. Suddenly, the she-cat launched herself at him with lightning speed and Rag got so startled, feeling her weight pin him down. "So you want to play dirty?! Fine!"Rag snarled, all tauntings dropped and the smirk that had been on his face turned into a snarl. He made a swipe at Rainstorm's belly, hoping it'll make her release him.
Rock's fur bristled as the battle finally began. The dark furred tom screeched and launched himself at Sorrowhowl along with the other rogue Gravel. Together, the two toms lept at the Mistclan warrior.
Weed screeched as a force knocked him down to the ground. Writhing, Weed quickly wriggled away and spat, "It's you who will die." The rogue aimed his teeth at the warrior's neck.

The battle against Demonstar replayed in the tom's mind. The moment he thought he was going to lose Lasspaw kept replaying, like a stuck record on a twoleg record player. His eyes burned, his pelt bristled. He could hardly believe the cockiness and arrogance of these creatures. They barely even deserved to breath the same air the loyal cats of MistClan did, let alone lay a hair on the same territory Sorrowhowl's noble clan had controlled since time immemorial. Sorrowhowl rasped his tongue over his nose as he watched the rogues. Then, the signal came. Rainstorm launched herself at the one Sorrowhowl had been standing in front of. Brokencyde leapt into action against one of them, leaving Sorrowhowl to deal with two of them. He flicked his white tail irritantly as they launched themselves at him at he same time.
In an instant, his figure moved from the spot to a few foxlengths away, a cocky grin gracing his maw. "Eating all our fish has made you too slow, kittypets!" he jeered, flicking his tail and crouching. "Come and get me, I dare you. You won't even know what'll hit ye by the time I'm through with you, cause these scars came from a murderer - who I helped to kill in revenge." a slightly evil sounding chuckle escaped from his lips. "Come on, ladies, don't leave me hanging," he jeered again, yellow eyes flashing.

The instant her paws had connected with the rogue's and pinned him down, Rainstorm had regretted her rash decision. She was not the strongest cat in camp, heck, she's probably the weakest here! Feebly she tried to sink her claws into the rogue, hopping that it'll strengthen her hold and time on the cat, but her hope was dashed when Rag twisted to swipe at her. Instantly the instinct of self preservation over her enemy kicked in and she was forced to leap back from the swipe, releasing her weak hold on the lone rogue. The grey cat hissed in frustration, crouching low readying for another leap to pin down the cat again. Her tail lashed in anger as she cursed mentally at her physical weakness. The small plain had turned into a small war field in just a few seconds, screeches of cats and warriors bounding off trees as they scrabbled together. For what? Fish. It's a ridiculous thing to fight over for, but maybe it'll be worth it in the end. "Don't you dare underestimate us warriors, kittypet." the ashen toned female spat, launching herself at the rogue again. This time aiming for a stronger hold.

Weed felt the wind knocked out of his lungs as a powerful blow to the chest sent him rearing back. Wheezing, the brown tom tried to get behind Brokencycle and lept, aiming to crash atop the warrior's back and sink his claws into the tom's fur.
Rock's eyes glittered with rage as he heard Sorrowhowl's taunts. Screeching, the dark furred tom dove forward, trying to rake his claws along the warrior's flank. Meanwhile, Gravel circled to Sorrowhowl's other side, growling. Just as Rock lept forward, Gravel instantly followed after, attacking his teeth at the Mistclan warrior's face.
"Hah! Warriors? What kind of stupid name is that?"Rag jeered, prowling back and forth within Rainstorm's view, eyes glittering maliciously. As she lept, Rag's smile turned into a snarl as he reared up, meeting her as she advanced towards him. His claws aimed to slam into the she-cat's shoulder while his head lunged forward, trying to bite her neck.

Brokencyde turned to see how Sorrowhowl was doing and saw two rogues leap at him. "Sorrowhowl do you need any hel..." he broke off as the breath was taken from his lungs when Weed jumped on his back. He let out a snarl which held anger and slight pain. He twisted trying to get out of Weeds grasp. Then he had a thought. He crashed on his back hopefully squishing Weed. He kept twisting in hopes that his stomach wouldn't be clawed at.
