Today seem so nice and comfortable. The small, pretty she-cat could just close her silver eyes and take some rest...

A glance behind her, she caught a glimpse of Mudfur's dark pelt. Grinning like a zany cat with a crush, she found herself chasing after him. Until then, she found herself kissing him...

WHACK!

Eyes wide open, the dream vanished. A small cat was in front of her, smiling like a doofus. At least, that is what Everlast thought. "Dudette, you scared the beetles out of me."

Hollypaw had been running late, she didn't mean to but she had by accident because she fell asleep for once in her life. She had slept all night long and even over slept, most likely from a lack of sleeping normally. Most of the time she slept was when she passed out from being to sick. She got sick so often seeing as she was born a sickly kit. Wildsong had taught her about some herbs before being killed by a Monster. Hollypaw shuddered at the memory. Hollypaw had only been known as Holly back then. She had been born a loner and lived with her mother Snow, and her five siblings names, Razzle, Frix, Mona, Twizzie and Hunter, they lived on the open moorland in an abandoned badgers den. But they had been attacked by a fox and Hollypaw had gotten separated from them. She had always been told her father Greyback was a warrior of a clan, of which clan she didn't know, but somehow after Wildsong's death she ended up here in Mistclan.

The beautiful white she-cat with grey spots on her back raced out of the apprentices den and ran to find her mentor, she was terrified of being late and didn't know how Everlast would take it. She gasped upon seeing her mentor, her stunning green eyes widened with fear as she crashed into her. She backed off instantly trying to calm herself so she wouldn't get sick again. "I-I-I am s-s-s-sorry" She stammered looking at Everlast.

Silver eyes narrowed at the stunning green eyes of her apprentice, Hollypaw. Her apprentice is running late...again. Everlast do not know what to do with her, really. It is only her first time as a mentor. Being tired of waiting any longer, she told her, "It is all right. Make sure you come on the right time next time, okay?" She closed her eyes for a moment, sighing, "StarClan, you really scared me for a minute, there. I thought you were a Twoleg for a second!"

Hollypaw nodded her head, "I-I-I am sorry" She said, "I-I will t-try" She meowed quietly, that was it, tonight she wouldn't sleep at all, she couldn't wake up in the mornings... she didn't want to wake up in the morning, she was to stay and dream, dream of her home, her family, her best friend. Plus she also spent alot of time with Walnutpaw and she went to visit Forestlight and Raincloud and all of their kits. Hollypaw was getting used to being here, but still she got scared so easily, and faint just was fast. She needed to relax but she couldn't find any reason to, she just was always so sick. "I-I-I didn't mean t-to" She stammered quietly.

"Chill, dudette," Everlast tried to reassure Hollypaw, but it seem not working out that well. She always call Hollypaw dudette because she is really her apprentice and they have a cool bond that is slightly different from other mentors with their apprentices. Yeah, she could be mean to Hollypaw, but this time, she decided to be nice. "Hey, you do not have to be nervous. You have every right to be nervous if there is a bear right next to you!" She roared in laughter, trying to imagine the great feared creature next to her apprentice, growling until she stopped. She dislike the image. She cares for the apprentice. Dislikes it when Hollypaw get hurt. Is this what a mentor is being like?

Hollypaw blinked a bit, Everlast always called her Dudette, but what in Starclan did that mean? She kind of wished her mother was still here to tell her what it meant, she missed her brothers and sister as well they would laugh and tell her that she didn't know anything but in reality they didn't know what it meant either. She sighed a bit and smiled sheepishly at her mentor nodding her head. She wondered what Walnutpaw was up to these days. She missed the tom though she wasn't sure why. When she was with him, she kind of felt, like for once she was at home. Hollypaw smiled a bit more, but her smile faded when she pictured a great big bear snarling at her, all those teeth, the death glare the horrid breath. Hollypaw panicked, her heart raced and her breathing became unstable as she rolled backwards gasping in fear.

Everlast watched her apprentice panicking and rolling backwards gasping in fear. Guilt stuck her heart. She did not mean to scare her apprentice. She guessed that her joke backfired. She came to Hollypaw's side and licked her head like she always did, to calm Hollypaw down. It helped in the past a lot of times when her apprentice had anixety attacks. "The bear is not here, dudette." She reassured her with a calm, nuturing motherly voice. Then her voice got cold, "If the bear was here, I would kill him." Even she knew she is no match for the great beast. At least, she would die trying to save her apprentice's life. Yes, Hollypaw is precious to her.

Hollypaw calmed down at the lick she looked up at Everlast, "S-Sorry" She meowed to her mentor, she really had to stop picturing such horrid pictures. She sat up and nodded, "B-Bear's are r-really big" She meowed, she had heard stories of the snarling beasts, but she had seen a fox before and they were nasty creatures. That one fox stole everything from her, her family. Her mother Snow, her brothers and sister, Razzle, Frix, Mona, Twizzie and Hunter, and her home, the abandoned den. Hollypaw missed them all, back then her name was only Holly, she missed her old life, but if it wasn't for her father being from the clans she probably would have been killed before she even made it to the clans. Being in a clan was in her blood, despite how easily scared she was and how sick she often got, and how shy she was, she was determined to be a warrior. "T-Thank you E-Everlast" She meowed softly.

"No problem, dudette," Everlast told the apprentice. Back then when Hollypaw was a kit, ready to be apprenticed, no warrior wanted to take her as their apprentice. Everlast remembered being the only warrior willing to become Hollypaw's mentor. The small she-cat knew that underneath Hollypaw's horrified, easily getting scared, and paniciked personitaly, Hollypaw has a warrior's heart. Everlast adored Hollypaw's unshattered determination to become a warrior her clan could be proud of. The small warrior knew Hollypaw's dark past, but she did not intend to get Hollypaw's past in her way. She was working hard to help Hollypaw, to support her no matter what. Aside from Hollypaw, she secretly loved being a mentor. She loved teaching young cats. Grinning, she asked her, "Do you want to practice some battle moves or go hunting?"

"H-Hunting" Hollypaw meowed quietly, she didn't like fighting, she learned that from Wildsong, Wildsong had been a medicine cat, she taught Hollypaw many things about the clans, but mostly about herbs that would help her feel better. But that horrid day, she was hit by a monster, it should have been Hollypaw, it was all her fault all her fault. Hollypaw shook her head she needed to forget. If it wasn't for that accident she would have never been found and would have never made it to Mistclan. But she still felt it was her fault. But because of it she didn't like fighting, she knew she should learn soon, but she wanted to at least.. at least try to hunt first, she heard it was easier anyways.

Fighting is not Hollypaw's style, but Everlast knew she could not push her apprentice to do something she is not comfortable with yet. The small warrior nodded, "Alright. Do you know a hunting move?" She sat up straight, watching her apprentice with a keen eye, "Show me."

Hollypaw dipped her head and thought about it, she dropped low, not to low though as she let her belly rest just above the ground lightly. Her tail lowered itself but she didn't make it touch the ground, her paws shifted carefully adjusting her weight evenly. She looked with her stunning green eyes towards her mentor to see if she was doing it right. Her white and grey fur shimmered softly in the sun, her eyes moved away from her mentor for only a few seconds, before looking back at her mentor.

A grin broke out on Everlast's muzzle. "Purrfect, dudette," Everlast told her apprentice as she circled her, checking her out to make sure she did the right hunting move. Then Everlast told her, "All right. Now we will go in the woods and you will try to catch a prey if we are lucky." She turned around, moving toward the entrance to the training area, and flicked her tail in greetings to other warriors with their apprentices. As she left the training area, she paused and waited for her apprentice to catch up with her.

Hollypaw nodded her head and smiled a bit, she was glad she had done it right, she was worried about messing up and making it look bad or worst shaking and then falling or what if she tripped?! She could almost picture the horrible disaster that would follow. She shook her head she had to clear her mind of such negative thoughts. "O-Okay" She said following her mentor sheepishly, she dipped her head quietly towards others as they pasted quietly. She finally caught up with Everlast she looked towards her with the utmost curiosity.

"I will stay here. You can go ahead and hunt," Everlast told her apprentice with soft humor appearing in her gray eyes. "If you miss the chance, don't worry. It is okay. Great warriors were once apprentices like yourself." Smiling, she quietly encouraged her apprentice to have more confidence in herself.

Hollypaw nodded her head, "O-Okay" She meowed, her voice was quiet. "I'll s-see what I can d-do" She stammered quietly. She stalked off quietly in search of prey, but what would she catch? She wasn't good at fishing, she proved that with Walnutpaw, but she had been good at catching the mice. She dropped low ready to catch them, her striking green eyes shimmered in the sun as she did so. She let out a quiet breath a bit nervous that she would mess up, she stalked after a mouse after a while of searching, she stopped moving to watch it.

Out of a flash like lightning, Everlast scooped the mouse with her paw. The mouse wiggled in the air, squeaking, but the tiny she-cat quieted it as she sent a killer bite in its small spine. It shook before it died. Sending a silent prayer to StarClan, she dropped it on Hollypaw's paws. "Dudette." She told the apprentice. "You have to catch it, not watch it." Her words were harsh, but there was amusement in her light gray eyes.

Hollypaw gasped a bit. She flinched a bit seeing it dropped at her feet. Her stunning green eyes looked up at Everlast, filled with a frightened tone that she would get yelled at, but instead, she was given harsh words. She folded her ears back, and curled her tail around her tiny slender form. "I-I'm sorry" She stammered, "I w-w-was waiting, f-for the right time" She said quietly, she was going to catch it, but she wasn't exactly given time to, her mentor had come so fast, it nearly gave her a heart attack. "S-S-S-Sorry" She said looking down ashamed of herself.

"Dudette," Everlast began, "it is really okay if you wait. It is sometimes a good thing, but you have to strike fast as possible. It is really okay if you miss the prey. There are more chances in the future to catch other prey. A good hunter have to take risks in order to catch a prey. Next time, just go for it. Trust your guts. Close your eyes and listen to that little voice inside you. When that voice tell you to do it, then you open your eyes and go for it. That's how I became a better hunter myself." Her tone was light, more like encouraging. The small warrior had a lot of patience for the nervous, shy apprentice.

Hollypaw nodded her head quietly, she listened intently to her mentor, she tried to think of the little voice inside her head, but all it kept saying was, your guilty your guilty. You did it it's all your fault. She almost fainted upon thinking about it and shook her head. She didn't mean to, it was an accident, she didn't mean for her to die. She was foolish. Hollypaw curled her tail around herself protectively, "Y-yes Everlast" She said nodding her head, she would try harder next time to get the mouse, she still had to learn to swim really good first.

Everlast saw the emotions swelling inside her apprentice's eyes. She wanted to frown. To crash down. To stomp and walk away from her. And move on with her warrior's life. But, she wanted to prove to other warriors that mocked and made bets on how long she would last with Hollypaw's training that she could do it. She can achieve. She do not want to fail as a mentor. She remembered that her mentor was the cat she always looked upon and she knew that this apprentice look up at her as a role model and no one else.

As if the small warrior read her apprentice's thoughts, she asked Hollypaw, "Want to practice swimming?"

Hollypaw's eyes blinked a bit, she looked up towards her mentor, she was surprised, everyone else said no one could train Hollypaw because she was... so shy and scared... she was useless. But Everlast seemed to want to prove everyone else wrong. A small smile spread across her face, "O-Okay" She said, she needed to work on swimming anyways, she was glad that Everlast was good at reading her emotions. She looked down a bit, "I-I will try m-my best" She said sheepishly, nodding her head ready to learn, she looked up, she still wouldn't tell her mentor how she saved Walnutpaw from drowning but... perhaps she would one day.

Upon reading her apprentice's better mood for some swimming training, Everlast wondered if she should tell her apprentice that she used to save several cats' lives from drowning. Should she? All of them were from enemy clans. She swore no one know about her secret, but she wanted to tell her apprentice, somehow...it felt strange, but she wanted to tell her.

This shy, easily scared apprentice was really some...thing. She was wide-eyed. That poor she-cat, but Everlast knew how much they really connected as a mentor and an apprentice. The young warrior knew they would get along really well and become close one day.

She shifted her weight and jumped on the fresh start, her legs stretching in the air as she sprinted ahead for the river. As she arrived, she was left breathless. The river was a beauty. It was a beauty that no one could ever imagine ugly. No one. If anyone think so, the cat have so much to live.

Glancing back at the woods, she scanned the area for her apprentice. "Dudette?"

Hollypaw smiled a bit sheepish, trailing after her mentor but she ended up tripping and falling, she winced and got back up brushing off her pelt looking around for her mentor, "E-Everlast?" She meowed quietly, moving forwards her paw was stuck between two branches in a bush she gasped and panicked she looked around fearful her mind felt hazy as her eyes rolled back and she faint for a moment, she woke up a few moments later and got up slipping her paw out of it. But she felt awful and sick again, she forced herself to calm as she sniffed the air trying to calm and find her mentor, she trailed after the scent and caught up with Everlast hearing her say "Dudette", Hollypaw padded over to her, "Y-Yes?" She meowed.

Everlast finally saw Hollypaw. "Dang, you all right?" Her gray eyes were full of concern. She smiled easily now that she began to see a bit of herself in the young apprentice. Believe it or not, she used to be shy and nervous like Hollypaw. Until she turned into a warrior, she grew up, being more confident than before. Somehow, she began using cool nicknames among youngsters. All of them loved her because she was easy to get along with and very friendly.

"Ready for swimming?" She asked the apprentice. "Go ahead. Show me how you swim."

Hollypaw smiled sheepishly and nodded her head, "Y-Yes I am f-fine" She said, she slowed down her breathing carefully, to make it seem like she was fine. She looked around quietly, and nodded her ehad afterwards, "O-Okay" She said, she got up carefully and slipped into the water, she waded around a bit, staying where she could stand up in the water. She wanted to stay here just because she didn't want to drown. She looked at Everlast quietly, and slowly slipped farther into the water and went where she couldn't touch and gasped when her heard slipped under.

The moment when Hollypaw's head went under the water, Everlast knew mousecrap was coming. No second thoughts, she jumped in the icy water, bristling right through her ebony fur, making her shiver down to the core. In that moment, she had no care. Only she cared about saving her apprentice's life. This was her moment. She knew what to do.

In less than a few minutes, she brought Hollypaw on the bank, panting effortlessly. She let her go and purred loudily, "Dudette, that is fun! Try again."

Hollypaw shivered lightly, she didn't understand how it was fun, the water was ice cold, it made her shudder. She sighed a bit and nodded her head, "O-Okay" She said shivering, she got up and padded shakily into the water she waited near the shore so she could stand waiting. After a while she became warmer a bit and she smiled a bit sheepishly and stepped off again, this time managing to stay above the water. She smiled a bit more, she couldn't believe she was swimming again, she gave a small eep and went under but soon came back up, blinking her green eyes.

Everlast could not believe her eyes. Hollypaw finally....

"YOU DID IT, DUDETTE!"

Hollypaw gasped, "I-I-I did it!" she meowed excitedly and sheepishly, she gasped a bit more when she went back under tumbling a bit and coming back up she smield a bit giving a timid laugh as she did, she was swimming, and for the first time, she stayed up and hse enjoyed it. She wished she and Walnutpaw would be able to swim like this together, but he couldn't swim to good either, but she was just starting to learn. She smiled towards her mentor her eyes shinning, glad she had made her mentor happy.
