The day After the Gathering in October
The sky was almost cloudless today, almost. If you looked long enough you could find a light fluffy cloud in the sky moving quickly. This is what Graystorm felt like. He had gotten home from the gathering the night before feeling light headed and bouncy, no one in the clan could figure it out. He attempted to hide it but he knew that some of his clan mates were suspicious of his new mood.
With a light step Graystorm headed out of camp, careful that no one saw the bounce in his step. He had to see her. They may have only been talking for a moment but it felt like they'd been talking forever. Graystorm did not care that there was a strange fluttering feeling inside his chest, or that he wanted nothing more than to see her. He just wanted to say hello, maybe they could talk some more.
Graystorm made quick time to the river and soon he was walking along side FireClan's border. He was disappointed when he immediatly didn't spot the gorgeous silver pelt but he wasn't upset for long, he knew that he would see her eventually. He had to.
Current day
The bounce in his step that had occurred after he saw Whirlpool for the first time was gone. He had to have had the worst luck of all these past few moons because not once, had he seen sign of the pretty she-cat. He had seen her brother plenty of times though never his sister. Every time that Graystorm saw the silver pelt his heart raced, only to plummet down when she saw the eyes, always yellow but never blue. He always tried though, always volunteering for hunting near the river, alone, and patrolling the borders. Luckily no one questioned him but there was never any reason to feel guilty. He really wanted to see her.
-
Graystorm let out a slight groan as he sat up. Another hunt by FireClan border even though his doubts of ever seeing her again were growing. Looking up he noticed that the sky was a dark gray and it looked like it would rain soon.
He made quick time, the route becoming very routine. He watched for prey with the side of his eye but was more so looking for the silver shape, yearning that today would be the day their paths crossed. It had been too many moons since he'd seen her.

Whirlpool carefully picked her way through the bramble, making sure her silver pelt didn't entangle with the sharp thorns. Her borther Whirlwind was off training his apprentice while her own was sent off hunting. Having nothing to do, the she-cat decided to hunt by herself for a while. The elders were complaining about wanting a vole so she decided to try to river where water voles usually appear. Her ears pricked listening for any signs of scrabbling. Sure enough, the tiny pitter patter of paws sounded near the rocks next to the river. Smiling, the she-cat quickly dropped down to a crouch, inching her way forward with stealthy movement. Her tail streamed behind her as she put one paw in front of another. Her soft blue eyes spotted the familiar figure of the tiny rodent, scrabbling up reeds to make into a nest. Whirlpool wasted no time as she quickly pounced forward, her claws swiping at the vole. It let out a screech of fright that was cut off as claws sank into its body. Whirlpool, full of satisfaction, stooped down and picked up the dead vole. However, as she prepared to leave, something made her stop. She felt a chill down her spine and looked around her with worried eyes. Why was she getting the feeling that she was being watched?

Graystorm's head shot up very fast as he heard the scream of a caught animal. Someone was here. Quickly Graystorm crouched among the reeds and ferns near the river. A silver shaped near the border caused his heart to begin to beat faster. Was it? Was it really her this time? He looked through the ferns at the FireClan warrior. It was her! He couldn't believe it, he hadn't seen her in moons. He looked up over the ferns to see her freeze and as she did, he froze along with her. Did she know that he was here?
After all this time of longing to see her again, she was finally here. But now that she was here he was frozen all over again. Just like he had been at the gathering. All the confidence he gained after the gathering vanished and now he didn't know what to do. He knew if he tried to talk to her that he would say something like 'ah' again. That was a horrible first impression. He scrambled backwards out of the bushes and tried to remain out of sight, his gray fur among the green bushes not helping much.

Whirlpool paused, her ears flitted up and angling back and forth, listening for anything suspicious. So far, nothing caught her eyes or her ears. She sniffed the air, but only the scent of her dead vole and the smell of Mistclan coming from the border reached her nose. Just nothing fresh. Her gray-tipped tail twitched nervously and her blue eyes flitted back and forth. She told herself to relax as she began to pad away when a loud rustling stopped her again. Okay, someone or something was definitely around. The feeling of being watched ran through her spine again. Her eyes quickly swept her surroundings until she did a double-take. Did she just see a flash of gray somewhere? Her eyes searched the trees and bushes, spotting the same dark color among the greenery. "W-Who's there!"she called, trying to keep fear out of her voice.

((Sorry for the crap post, I'm tired and feel guilty for not posting something tonight <33)) Graystorm froze and realized that there was no point in hiding anymore. With his hair on end and his entire body flushed he walked towards where the reeds thinned out, where he would be seen. He turned to look at her. "Ah..." Was all that would come out of his mouth... again. He took a deep breath and started again. "I am sorry if I startled you." He looked down at his paws, feeling ashamed. After all of this time preparing he thought he'd be able to talk to her, he'd been waiting for moons.

Whirlpool's ears twitched in surprise to see a tom appear in the bushes of the other side. Her fur bristled suspiciously, glancing around warily to see if there was an ambush waiting for her. However, no other scents of Mistclan met her nose so she cautiously took a step towards him, considering him cautiously. "Hav-Haven't I met you somewhere before?"the silver she-cat asked, tilting her head curiously as she observed him.

Graystorm stood there, frozen like ice. She recognized him, there was no getting out of this now. He averted his blue gaze as he meowed, loud enough to reach her across the river, "Yeah... yeah we met at the full moon a few gatherings ago." He wasn't sure what else to say. She was surely think he was an idiot. He'd never been good with words around any cat except his sister who always managed to bring the best out of him. Despite his nervousness he could not keep his eyes from hers for very long. His eyes went to hers and he managed to keep them there for a longer period of time.

Whirlpool awkwardly stood there, her ears twitching to show how uncomfortable she was. She had met alot of cats at Gatherings so the silver she-cat couldn't really be sure that she actually remembered exactly who he was. "Erm...I guess I kind of recognize you..."she muttered to him, her head still cocked slightly to the side. She noticed that he was staring at her like a moony rabbit and felt even more awkward. She deliberantly kept her gaze down, resisting the urge to also look into his eyes. "Um...I think I have to go..."Whirlpool muttered, backing away slowly. She had to get away from this awkward moment.

Graystorm groaned, this wasn't going to work out. There was no way that he going to ever talk to her again. Part of his mind accepted this, while the other couldn't. He began to say something but suddenly came up short and tried again. Suddenly he burst out without control "I think you're beautiful!" As soon as the words came out of his mouth his jaw clamped shut and his eyes were wide. He couldn't believe he had just said that to another cat! Never in his life had he ever done such a foolish thing.

Whirlpool's blue eyes were also widened in shock, quite taken aback. Her cheek glowed a pinkish hue as she blushed, not knowing how to respond. It was probably the last thing she expected a Mistclan tom to suddenly blurt out to her. "Uh..erm...thank you?"she responded meekly, tail twitching in an awkward fashion. It was only then that she realized that this was the first time she had been complemented as such and was quite flattered, though confused and feeling awkward about the situation. "Erm, you're not too bad yourself,"the silver she-cat muttered back, thinking it was the right thing to say in this situation, for she had to be polite. However, after a quick thinking, the tom before her did look quite handsome.

Graystorm flicked his ears in shock. He'd never gotten a compliment on something other than his warrior qualities. He tried not to get his hopes up too much, many she-cats were kind out of instinct and would lie to avoid hurting feelings. Also, she had only said: 'not too bad'. That was neither good nor bad.
Graystorm felt the need to keep the conversation going. "We haven't talked in several moons..." He struggled to find the words. "How have you been?"

Whirlpool's blue eyes were filled with even more confusion as the tom began to talk as if they were old friends and seeing each other after a while. "U-um, I've been alright...just the usual warrior duties,"Whirlpool muttered back. Being polite, she asked back, "And you?"
While waiting for a reply, the she-cat was gazing at the tom, trying hard to remember his name. The last Gathering seemed like ages ago and Whirlpool had met so many cats. Yet this tom had made an effort to remember her. His gray pelt color seemed to give her a hint. After a few seconds, she remembered the name Graystorm.

"Fine..." He murmured. Obviously not going to tell her that he'd been wanting to see her for the past moons. "Warrior duties." He said, copying her. "I'm not sure why, but Puddlestar has kept me away from the gatherings the past few times." Suddenly there was a very strong scent of something, something that he couldn't place. "Do... do you smell that?" He asked. It was a very strong scent, the thing had to be very close by."
Sorry for the shortness .____. and horribleness
