A Glance.
It was that glance that told him everything and knew what it meant. Mango was done with waiting and done with seeing the likes of this large tom damping the nature that was already pure. Shadow had already came down with one thought about Rovek, feeling his anger sudge within him once again and his eyes hardened at the very seems. Death will fall apon you....and I'll be the one to do it..one day. His hard yellow eyes darkened before raising to his paws and slowly following after the gray she-cat with his tail lashing in the air. Each step he took put a gap in between him and the threat that loomed behind him, a cat that he truly become to hate. But as he reached Mango's side with his gaze slowly shifting over to her, his eyes softened a bit and huffed.
"Rovek. His scent reeks of death and hate." Shadow spoke, his tone both rough and shallow. His torn ear twitched as he continued, his pace matching Mango's with each paw step he took. "That will be a problem...at must be dealt with soon." He ended with a smirk, suddenlly pulling away from the gray she-cat and bolted down the path that layed ahead of them. He didn't know why he did this, yet he had a sure clue what it was. The sunset was about to begin, which marked that another day was about to end and something that even he didn't like to miss. Shadow smirked again, his paws carrying him toward the big tree with each stride he took and only glanced back only to see if Mango was following him.

She wanted to tell the black rogue to shut up so badly, but her patience struggled with her. Her conscience kept her from spilling out the words out. It was a such, sweet temptation, but a lifetime of leading the rogues gave her a lesson about talking less. The shorter the words, the sweeter it will be. Short and sweet.
Utterly tired of Rovek's drama crap, she decided to ignore Shadow completely. Focusing on the sound of her pawsteps and birds' silent cries. There were plenty of fresh kill around here and her paws ached to hunt. Hunting was her addiction. It helped her to forget all of her teensy problems.
However, she only told Shadow this, "He won't bother us anymore." There was a ring of lie behind her words. She knew she failed miserably. Used to be an expectional liar all her life, she could not bring herself to lie to this new friend. Her friend who saved her life. Sighing, she paused in her pawsteps and told him instead, "I am...sorry."

(Hmmmm...Evilness.....)
Shadow pace slowed, suddenlly aware that the gray she-cat wasn't following and stopped with his tail slowly lowering to the ground.
"He won't bother us anymore."
He turned around slowly, his smirk dissappeared from his muzzle and his eyes slowly hardening again. He felt was if he was caught between something, two feelings he couldn't ever escape from and as he began to pad foward toward Mango again, felt as if everything was watching just him. His hate, Anger and Pain. Rising slowly as he narrowed his yellow eyes, his torn ear flicked back as he heard the next words that came from the gray she-cat's muzzle and stopped yet again in his tracks.
"I am...sorry."
Sorry? The black tom thought, his mind becoming quite clouded with questions and spoke without much thought of his own words."Why....Why are you sorry?" His voice was quite dim, as if he didn't really know what to think. But something....something was clawing at him, that forced him to keep himself from yowling in pain. His Past. Edged into his mind, marks of everything that made who he was...and a feeling that was slowly waiting to break. Trying not to lose himself, he backed away a bit to keep from doing something that was indeed stupid and waited for her reply.
And as he did...The Sunset slowly fell from the sky.

"Because I lied," Mango simply stated.
She did not want him to think anything evil of her. Only she wanted him to know her real self, the real Mango. The real one who was deeply hurt inside the soul and vulnerable. She did not know how to control her emotions. Emotions and feelings were overwhelming for her to handle.
It was as if she was walking on the thinnest ice, a tiny step forward and forward, anxiously hoping not to fall. What was this feeling?
A frown feasted its way on her muzzle. What was this? She did not know.

"Because I lied"
Shadow's thoughts slowly calmed, even though the word "lied" had him hiss under his breath and lash his tail. It was something he was use to hearing, since every rouge lied about how they were and everything else. His yellow eyes grew hard again, staring at Mango as if he was filled with hate and smirked a bit. "Don't be." He spoke, half closing his eyes as the feeling of anger melted away. The black tom padded forward again until he stopped just a few mouse leaths away from the gray she-cat before sitting down with his tail swaying a bit.
"Tell me then?" Shadow started, his eyes softened a bit. "What's really wrong. If you do..then I'll say mine." He ended, his thoughts edged on bits of his own past. He really didn't like saying anything much about his own...but if it was to at least Mango calm, then he would do it. Letting his long black tail lay onto the dirt ground, he flicked his torn ear back with a slight smirk on his face.

"I have a lot on my mind, lately." Sighing deeply, it was really difficult to admit anything to someone. It was her issue. Trust. She lacked that, poorly. With no hope, with no choice to turn back on him, she told him this, "I don't like to open up about my feelings. It is not really me. But I will open up to you." With another deep sigh, she looked at her paws.
"My heart is crushed when I was very young. A tom named Roxan...Chase took me up as his mate, but then he left me one day, unexpectedly and left my heart to the dust..." Her voice trailed off, as it was getting harder and harder to share anything with him. She closed her eyes and whispered softly, "It takes time for me to tell you. Please be patient. Please."
Then out of the blue, Mango looked up and stared at him directly in the eye, "I...think..." Then she blurted, "I love you."

Shadow's gaze hardly left Mango's, listening ever so slightly to each word that the gray she-cat had said. Though he couldn't help but huff a bit at the mention of her saying that she had a lot on her mind. Your not the only one. The black tom thought, thinking shortly about the dark gray tabby and the sudden fox attack. He still couldn't understand why that fear sudged through him, pushing him over the edge of anger and hate for just one she-cat.
But as he listened to Mango's voice, that feeling once again rose and made him twitch his whiskers a bit. Hearing of the other toms, Shadow snarled in his mind and let his gaze fall to his paws with a slight look of anger on his face. Other toms hurt her, leaving her for dead or becoming shallow and mean. Though really, he himself was just about the same as the toms she spoke of. Only one thing set him apart from all the rest..And that was a heart. He had a heart for she-cats and because of that, he had only knew when to be a bit of a let down when the time was right.
But that time wasn't now.
Lifting his sight back onto Mango, Shadow could not believe his eyes. Mango was hurt. More hurt then anything else and his mind drew back to the time when he himself was in pain. The sadness, anger and pain that changed his mind forever. He wondered the same with the gray tabby, of what would happen if she couldn't go on. It took him only moments to find out that his teeth was showing a bit, along with a look of anger in his eyes. He was just about to look away when he heard the words that, in fact, froze him in place.
"I love you."
What? Shadow thought, his mind suddenlly thrown for a loop and glanced at Mango with a look of shock. Mango! Loves him? This was a first. He had never been loved before, let alone liked. His long black tail rose a bit, clearly twitching as it did so. But yet, somehow..he wasn't sure he could say the same. Closing his eyes slowly, his tail rose to touch the top of Mango's head and slowly swiped her ears with it before lowering it to the ground. A smirk showed on his face before opening his eyes to her and the smirk slowly turned into a grin.
"Like you said. Be patient. It will take time..I know that." Shadow spoke, his voice calmer then normal."But until that time comes..I will not truly say those words. Not to hurt you like the others..but to let you know that my feelings for you are indeed strong. Just-" He paused, flicking his torn ear a bit. "That My mind is still trying..to find peace." He ended, hoping not to hurt her like the others. It was true though..his past was still clawing at him and that one cat still marked his mind.

Following Shadow's words, the gray tabby she-cat knew this was coming. Of course, she was not foolish. Not anymore since she grew up a long time ago. Love was a mousedung. Been there, done that. She could only dip her head toward the dark, bitter tom she thought she fell in love.
She thought she knew why she fell for him. It was because he was there for her the whole time even he might like it or not. He saved her life once and she knew with her heart that he would do it again for her. It was there in his eyes. Mango knew that.
No one else would do that. No one. She truly trusted him, but he was right. It took time. And she felt the same. Her mind was searching for peace. "I feel the same. Life is full of foxdung, huh? Fleas come by and bite you in the tail." She spoke with wisdom, the one side she had not shown since she met him days ago.

Shadow's grin turned back into a smirk, raising his tail slowly until it was behind him as he listened to Mango's voice in amusment. It was quite odd to him, that everytime he looked into her eyes that he could see a bit about her. Confusion, Pain, Distrust. It was almost like he was looking into a mirror of himself. Almost. The black tom added to himself, making sure not to get to carried away in his past life of death and blood. The gray tabby however, he felt more...oddly calm around and as if he knew that even when he put his trust in her, that she wouldn't use it against him. Or at least for now. Shadow growled in his mind, hearing the words that Mango spoke and huffed.
"Very true. Even more so with every Mouse-brain we face." The black tom spoke, his voice now returning to his rough tone. His hard yellow eyes glanced over to a nearby tree, hearing a rustle before it slowly quieted down. Shadow huffed yet again before looking at Mango with a slight twitch of his torn ear. "Now, speaking of mouse. Would you like to hunt with-" He paused, trying to keep that feeling from edging up again. "Me." He finished, hissing in his mind at the way he paused. It's bad enough that I have to deal with this anger...But at least its better then hunting alone.

Shadow was mad, but Mango really understood. Nothing in life was anything good enough. Rogues tend to drop mousedung in the trials, leaving you to feed toward them. Yes, life was that cruel....to some cats. Like Shadow and Mango.
Mango dipped her head toward Shadow's request, "Sure." Though, she really wanted him to open up to her. She secretly wanted that.

Shadow let out of huff, but nodded slightly to her answer as rose to his paws with a lash of his long black tail. His gaze seemed locked for a moment on Mango's before turning around until his back faced the she-cat. As he lifted his head to scent the air, the tom remembered that he said he would tell her about his past and simply let out a long sigh. If I tell her.....would she even...Shadow thought, his whiskers twitching a bit as he stood in place with a look of wonder. He wasn't sure if it was the right time. But then again, his thoughts about the clawed mouse tiggered a small srudge of regret and anger. If he didn't tell her now, what will Mango think of him when he kills a mouse...or even worse?
Fussing in his mind, Shadow lashed his tail and spoke in a low but calm tone. "If it would make you feel any better...my life wasn't much of a kittypet life. Nor was it much of a loner's either." His torn ear flicked back as he spoke, recalling the event that marked his life and hissed a bit. "My father...was much like that crazed cat we saw...nothing but death and madness. He was a tabby....striped as well and killed everything that I knew about living."
As Shadow lowered his head, his voice seemed to become more edged and his body grew tense with anger. "He killed my mother...and nearly took mine as well...but instead...he left me to die a slow and painful death!" He ended sharply, his claws unsheathed and dug into the dirt. His fur was now on ends, his body fully ready to tear something apart and his eyes hardened fully. It took him only moments later to find that Mango was still there and forced himself to calm down, his jaws closing together to keep from yowling in anger. As his pelt began to lay flat again, Shadow slowly sat where he stood and let his tail lay onto a patch of grass that was beside him.
Shadow couldn't help it, everytime he spoke about his past or even thought about it, his anger and need to fight took over. Which he had to push himself just to keep from hurting anyone or in his case, killing anyone. This however, pulled him back into silence and with his torn ear still twitching, kept it that way.

After the dark colored tom gathered his thoughts and feelings into words out of his muzzle, the gray tabby she-cat could only stay there on four paws. With no sound out of her muzzle, only the quiet buzzing went in her mind. The buzz warned her to get away from this tom. This tom was dangerous. That much, she knew that. And...she should not stayed. She should have left. Was that really what she wanted?
No. The light-hearted answer came upon her head. It was one hundred pure truth from her heart. She could not abandon him. Not when he was starting to open up to her. His words prickled her heart, not with scorn and hatred, but touched her heart. She understood his pain. The raw desire for his parents to love him and caress him with their parents' affection and warmth. She knew this. She desired for that too. Her parents abandoned her siblings and her to a pack of rogues who took them in.
With this mingling in her mind's eye of her dark past, she walked to the tom's side, pressing her fur against his fur. She did not dare to get closer because this could set him off, but she only looked into his eyes. Her eyes were soft, not with anger or power, but with this lighter, fragile emotion; love.
She understood.
And that was enough.

Shadow stayed silent, his gaze casted to the ground in narrowed slits and let his tail lay motionless on the patch of grass. At this point...he wasn't sure if Mango would turn and run, but if she did..."Then I don't blame her.", he whispered to himself. He was always alone, never knowing the true meaning of hope or love and only dreamed of it on a rare moment. The jet black tom closed his eyes, not even brothering to look up and let a smirk appear on his muzzle.
Light will never find me.....neither will love. The jet black tom thought, his smirk disappearing from his muzzle and was replaced with a small frown. Though he failed to scent the gray tabby come up beside him and the next moment made him stop thinking completely. Shadow's eyes quickly opened, filled with shock and turned his eyes upward to where mango once was. She wasn't there, but that didn't explain the sudden feeling of warmth that he felt within that moment. He's gaze turned to one side while tilting his head and was even more shocked by what he saw next. The gray tabby was beside him, so close that both of their pelts touched and her gaze was more open then before. She was lightly pressed against his side, which he thought she wouldn't ever do. It took only a few more moments before his tense body began to relax and the shocked look in his eyes faded back into a calm one.
Shadow once again let his smirk show, flicking his torn ear back once and let his gaze soften a bit."So..." He paused for a moment, as if waiting for something to ruin the moment. "You don't care..about what I am." He finished, his tail moving from the patch of grass and layed slightly one his left front paw. The tom wanted to show it, but of course it wasn't easy for him to show the same feeling back.
But He knew.... The image of the light gray tabby....that he thought he had saw before....in one fateful dream.
Now he understood..that he wasn't alone after all.

The gray tabby did not need to utter any word. Her eyes said it all. As Shadow finished talking, she let her guards down. The wall around her inside rumbled into pieces. It was gone. Right there, she was purely whole, the true presence of herself. She truly did not care what Shadow did and didn't, she cared for who he was really inside. She got to admit this...he had a good heart. Though, she knew he would not admit that to her. That was okay with her.
Deep inside, purrs came to life. Smiles like rare jewels (pearls) were familiar on her muzzle.
"Come on, we better get moving. Let's hunt," she told him as she pressed her fur against his, then stepped back. Life went on. And she knew that.
She did not feel like this way with anyone. Roxan Chase, Erik, Jazz, and Sear...all those toms did not matter.
Never before she felt this way for a long time.
She was happy.
Priceless.

Shadow's gaze on the gray tabby only grew wider, finding himself a bit more surprised then what he saw in her before. A smile. A beautiful, flawless smile showed on the she-cat's muzzle and couldn't do anything but blink. No one had ever showed that before, even the purring threw him off a bit and had to close his eyes just to compose himself. Is...is this what that dream meant? Happiness? The jet black tom thought, trying to find that same feeling within himself. He recalled those feelings, but could only find four that fit his nature.
Anger.....Pain.......Hate....and love.
His mind kept repeating those four words, yet happiness had yet to find him. But, He reminded himself, as long as Mango is happy...then maybe that can be mine as well. Shadow's hard yellow eyes opened halfway, flicking his torn ear back at Mango's soft words and slightly flinched a bit when the she-cat pressed her pelt against his again. I'm going to have to get use to that. He thought, smirking at Mango again before rising to his paws. Opening his eyes fully now, the look he gave was slightly different. Sure it was still the same hard look that he always had, but this time, it held a purpose to them. A new found strength, that even he didn't know yet.
Letting his long black tail sway behind him for a moment, his gaze switched to the sky before letting out a huff in amusement. "Right.", Shadow spoke, his voice a bit rough but held a calm tone as well. "I'll let you lead this time." He simply ended, his gaze now scanning the forest for any rogue or fox that was around. His torn ear twitched a couple of times before giving the gray tabby another smirk from his muzzle. A smirk. Which he himself, will be doing alot more often.
That....and maybe a grin too
OOC: So what do you think, Apple? Have any ideas after this one? (Wants to Know ^^)

"Thank you," Mango said softly, standing up. Stretching, she let out a yawn. She knew that Shadow flinched at her touch, but she did not mind. He was not used to this. That, Mango understood. Completely.
Still smiling like a zany she-cat in love, she walked across the clearing. Her eyes darted around, detecting for any signs of possible prey. In less than five seconds, she caught a glimpse of dark fur up the tree. It must be a squirrel. No second thoughts, she went for it. Climbing up the tree, there was no squirrel, but a blur shadow of herself. She glanced outside the tree, laughing. She made herself look like a fool.
Oh well. It happens. OCC: I really don't know what would happen next. You can plan anything for them. Let me know what you want. (:

Shadow's gaze never left the gray tabby, as she padded across the clearing with the same smile still pasted on her muzzle. His torn ear flicked back a few times, somewhat amused at the site and simply shook his head slowly. He had alot to get use too...the sudden feeling of pelts touching, the warm feeling that curclied the air and that feeling that he knew was there but could not yet get use to. Yes, this was alot to take in. "But it's worth it...I guess." Shadow spoke slightly, his voice low enough so only he could hear and shruged his shoulders.
As he closed his eyes for a moment, he could hear a quick movement of pawsteps that seemed to bolt off in a hurry and quickly opened his eyes to find Mango gone again. Now what?, the jet black tom thought while opening his mouth to scent the air. As soon as he did so however, Shadow spotted a flash of gray fur in the tree and shut his jaws. The gray tabby she-cat was in the tree, laughing and couldn't help but smirk at the thought.
She messed up, didn't she?
His long black tail curled abit, the smirk of amusment still on his muzzle and slowly padded up to the tree's bottom. Once he was there, his front paws rested on it's bark as he stood on his hind legs and his gaze slightly narrowed at Mango. "Running after shadows again?" He spoke calmly, his voice marking the sarcam of his name and let his claws unstreath into the roughness of the tree's bark. His torn ear flicked back, hearing the rusling from a nearby bush and flicked his tail over to it. "Try over there." Shadow added, closing his eyes for a moment before turning his head to the sound again with his claws still in the bark.

Mango laughed at Shadow's joke, "Running after shadows again?" That was a good one. "Thought it would be fun chasing shadows," she smirked, teasing. At the flick of Shadow's tail toward the bush, she quickly jogged toward it. No sounds being made, she quickly killed a squirrel. A neat and clean kill, she began to lick her claws. The squirrel was lying in front of her, its eyes closed. She joked Shadow, "Instead of shadows, I caught Mr. Squirrel."

Shadow's gaze narrowed a bit as the gray tabby laughed and simply kept the smirk pasted on his muzzle. It was quite clear that he was now seeing the real Mango, happy and being herself. But yet he on the other paw remained a tom of little joy, still feeling the burning anger of his past and the pain that was left in it's wake. Steathing his claws from the bark, he quickly dropped to all fours again and huffed in amusment as the gray she-cat joked about the squirrel. "Too bad he's dead now." Shadow spoke calmly, padding over to Mango to gaze at the now dead prey. Yes. It was a clean kill, its eyes closed and with little blood to see. But his kills were never the same, nor were they ever clean. The jet black tom let out a sigh, suddenly reminded of the prey he killed. Eyes wide open, pure fear within them and a long slash on its side. And that grin. He thought, letting his gaze raise to Mango's and nodded with his torn ear flicking back once. Without saying anything however, his head quickly moved to another sound and his body became alert. Tensing abit, the jet black tom started to pad away from the gray she-cat and slowly lowered his long black tail close to the ground. After a moment passed, a few of the leaves began to move from one of the bushes and then...a flash of white fur. Without a second thought, shadow's body tensed as he soon bolted toward it with both of his ears clearly flat on the sides of his head. Dashing head long into the bushes, his claws unsteathed and then the sound of a small noise could be heard. Soon silence follows and it seemed as if the whole forest stopped breathing. It was a rabbit, now laying dead at his paws with a deep claw mark in it's side. His right paw slightly covered in blood and his claws barely showed in the dim light. But the smirk he had on his muzzle, showed the what few really saw about his life. Evil. He did not know why he did that smirk, but he knew only that he enjoyed seeing it die...die under his claws. His hard yellow eyes seemed to darken a bit, narrowed at his dead prey in amusment. Your Weak....You have nothing left...your so feeble it's sickening... A voice eccoed in Shadow's mind, mirroring the voice of his so-called father and chuckled softly. "Your wrong.." He whispered, his eyes opening fully with his smirk now changing into a snarl and let his tail lash a few times, making the leaves rusle a bit. "I do have something...something tha you will never take from me." His voice grew abit louder, this time loud enough for Mango to hear but yet paid it no mind and lifted his head to the tree tops. "I have Mango." Shadow's last words eccoed a bit, showing the fierceness in his voice and once again found himself sitting down with his eyes still set on the trees above. I have Mango. (( Done ^^. Now when you mentioned Roxen, Who is that cat?. Because I was thinking of a thread involving three of four cats with Mango and Shadow. What do you think about it?))

((Sure, I would love to interact with four or more cats with Shadow and Mango. Though, I have a concern. If we are going to do that, it will take a longer time for each of us to reply. For me, I prefer rping with a person or two, maximum. Roxan Chase is Mango's former lover, first love, whatever you want to call it. Nem owns this cat. Do you want Nem to rp with us? Roxan. Mango. And Shadow. What ya think?)) Mango witnessed the whole scene with no word. No sounds being made, she only staggered to her four paws. Shadow was an excellent hunter and she already knew that. She saw him hunting before. This was nothing new as she gave him a light compliment, "Nice catch." ((Again, sorry about the short post.))
