Lightfeather opened her eyes, letting them drift around Shadowsong's den. She gave a deep sigh, lifting her head and laying purple eyes on the wounds on her hind leg. She stared at it without a single emotion visible in her face. They were scarring over, but she still could barely walk. She'd live with a hobble for the rest of her life. The she-cat lay her head down on her feet, and closed her sad purple eyes. This was terrible, and she felt like she could blame Cougarpaw. Imagine if that badger had got Cougarpaw instead of her? The apprentice would have been ripped apart with no questions asked. Better the leg of a warrior than the life of an apprentice, right? She let out a long sigh, nostrils flaring as she opened one eye. The sun was coming up. She could hear the kits playing and the apprentices training and the warriors grooming one another. Would she even be on her feet soon? Just to get out there and hunt and work for her food again, rather than just sit in here like some sorry elder.
"I wonder if anyone even cares I'm in here." the she-cat thought morosely, flicking her tail. It sent pain waves up her leg and she let out a gasp. Her leg didn't even seem to be healing up properly. Lightfeather lifted her head and looked at it again. It urged to be groomed and stretched and used, but it was too painful. She twitched her toes gently, which only made her gasp again. "Nothing is going right here..." she whispered to herself, moving her ankle slightly and feeling the pain again. Inhaling deeply, she pushed up her front legs and lifted herself up, balancing on three legs. She hobbled over to the food pile and grabbed a sparrow, hobbling back to the den and sitting down. "Aaw jeez... that hurt."
