Fritz
"Where are we staying?" With both paws pressed hard into the black featured back of a nestling blue bird who had fallen from it's nest, Fritz silky golden orange fur did little to blend her into the greens, browns, and tans of the forest floor. Even the bits of mud on her paws from the lucky catch was better suited to blend into the surroundings than her coat. The silver tabby stepping up to her side with her own wiggling prey blended oddly herself. Fritz dispatched the bird and set her jaws around its back lifting her head to nod silently at her Friend.
It had been a few weeks since the two met under odd circumstances. Fritz had been living with a colony at a human's residence. She had fed off of the hard pieces of questionable food and living with little fear of the outside world beyond the comfort of being in a feral population in the humans world. Lavie, the silver tabby, had wandered into their lot and in turn ended up being followed by the little orange kitten who was searching for adventure.
Leaping up onto the curved trunk of a fallen tree, Fritz folded her paws to her side and began to clean the bird of feathers. She watched her mentor began to devour the small snake that made up of her own prey from down below.
Lavie
Settling down below the tree's existence, Lavie worked quickly on her meal. Little protein has been found along the way to sustain a normal diet. She had to watch the younger cat fall lighter in order to cover the nutrients of her family. The pregnant cat had waited too many seasons for these kittens to loose them to a lack of food.
" A place of our own..that's where. The sickness is spreading north killing off many cats and many more kittens. If we have a chance at e"escaping the disease, we have to find a place hidden away. " It didn't take long before the snake was devoured. The silver cat rose to her feet and made her way up onto the tree's tallest point. Cat's were hard to see as many feral cats died not being able to blend into the forest's scenery leaving only the ones that could to survive. But their smells still linger strongly. It was only a matter of finding the colony and observing their presence for the good and the bad.
The pregnant Queen (aka female cat) would be due in a few weeks. The kittens inside of her may end like her first kitten or survive to make it past each critical stage of development. And even though her hunting experience is grand, The safety of a clan even if it would be but a short time would give her a better chance of keeping these kit's alive.
