Gathering VI

The night was clear with stars shimmering overhead like little holes of light. The were no clouds in the sky, a good sign. Sunflash breathed in the refreshing air as he limped torward the trees where the leaders would stand. He had battled a badger earlier in the day, and he had pulled or twisted his shoulder, whatever he did to it, it hurt. So far, FireClan cats were in the large clearing. He was glad at least that it wasn't that cold anymore, except for the occasional chilly gust of wind. His shoulder throbbed numbly as he gazed around at the cats. Their pelts all had a silvery glow, no doubt because of the full moon overhead.

[Waterfrost]

Shadowpaw followed her clanmates beside Appleblossom into the clearing. She was radiating with excitement because it was her first Gathering. She opened her mouth slightly and picked up Fireclan scent. For a moment she wanted to go talk to a cat from a different clan, but she held her position. She preferred to stay away and observe.

Appleblossom padded ahead of her apprentice until she reached her usual seat with other medicine cats. The brief talk with the deputy was nice and comforting. She wished for another talk like that with the deputy sometimes. Her concerns were gone, only for tonight. The moon was shining so brightly tonight. It means that the Gathering will be pleasant tonight. No conflicts. That calmed her fears. Her fears rose again once she scented DawnClan cats.

Haggarstar scrolled through the clearing with her clan cats behind her. There was a fresh wound on her left shoulder, but she did not dare to hide it. Her yellow eyes brighted as she reached her place besides the MoonClan and FireClan leaders. She smiled at them as if nothing had happened.

Appleblossom's eyes were wary. Her eyes were kept on the young DawnClan leader's body. A scent reek out of her black fur that almost choked her. The scent of death. She coughed lightly, her eyes widening. Like countless medicine cats before her, she knew that Haggarstar hide a sercet. She lost her first life last night. To what? She thought. Scanning over the leader's body, the medinice cat saw the fresh wound on her left shoulder. A battle wound. Sniffing the air again, her nose wriggled. Rogues. She suspected that a rogue attacked her and killed her. With all of this information, she kept her lips sealed. She could share this sercet with anyone, but she thought it was rude. The leaf was on her paw and she shook it off. Looking up again, she found Shadowpaw staring at her. She smiled at her, "What?"

Thornnose had padded in with her fellow Fireclan warriors, admiring the night forest. Only when she entered the clearing was there already a chance for her to mingle with the other clans.

Fireflower filed in behind the DawnClan deputy as she took a sniff of her surroundings. She noticed Appleblossom and padded up to her, uttering a mew of greeting.

Appleblossom saw Fireflower and dipped her head. "Greetings, Fireflower." The thoughts of Haggarstar's first life was back in her mind.

[Waterfrost]

Shadowpaw watched Appleblossom peer at Haggarstar knowingly. She tilted her head in curiosity, trying to understand her mentor's mood. Not many cats tried to understand Appleblossom, but she did and didn't understand why. She didn't understand much since her time talking with Nettlepaw. Shadowpaw shook her head to clear her thoughts. She knew something had happened, but she didn't know how or what. She glanced at the Dawnclan's leader's wound before looking back at Appleblossom.

Frostpaw took his time entering the clearing. He caught the sent of Fireclan and Dawnclan. He began to stroll around, glancing at other clan cats. He spotted Shadowpaw and was going to surprise her by sneaking up on her, but he didn't want to encounter Appleblossom. He steered away from that direction.

Blazeheart flinched as she stumbled down the slope, her old wound from the battle with Mistclan had reopened from the tussle with the badger. She carefully went to the center of the clearing, trying not to limp in front of the other Clan. The ginger she-cat didn't like showing weakness to the other Clans, and didn't intend to start now.

Tigerfrost entered the moonlit clearing behind Haggarstar with head held high and tail aloft. His display of pride didn't match what was in his heart. He was concerned for his leader, since she had lost a life. Trying to push it back, he approached the Moonclan medicine cat.
"Greetings Appleblossom,"he greeted in a low voice, dipping his head. He also gave a respectful nod to his own Clan's medicine cat Fireflower.
"Is this your new apprentice?"the Dawnclan deputy asked, glancing at Shadowpaw with surprise, since he had never seen the young she-cat before.

Padpaw was so busy admiring the pretty she-cats from other Clans that he accidentally bumped into a Moonclan apprentice, causing him to fall back onto his haunches.
"Oops, my bad!"he apoligized.

The ferns russled and the Mistclan leader emerged with his Clan following him.
"Sorry we're late,"Demonstar meowed gruffly, though his cold, dark eyes didn't reflect his apoligy.

The ancient medicine cat nodded in respect to Tigerfrost, Haggarstar's deputy. "Greetings, Tigerfrost." As the deputy asked her about her apprentice, she meowed softly, "This is Shadowpaw." Turning to her apprentice, she shot her a serious look. "Shadowpaw, this is Tigerfrost, DawnClan deputy."

[Waterfrost]

Shadowpaw met Appleblossom's eye without fear and nodded slightly. She turned to the deputy, "Hello, Tigerfrost. It's a pleasure to meet you. How's the prey running?" She said this with calmness and respect. She had never met any cat from a different clan before and was glad they weren't meeting at a border battle.

Frostpaw fell off his feet when something black hit him. He hastily got to his paws, hoping his mentor wouldn't come over and rant at him about how he should never lay down at Gatherings where other clans are judging him. He looked down at an apprentice on his haunches. By the smell, he figured he was a Fireclan cat. He shrugged his shoulders, "No worries." He mewed good naturally. "Are you alright?"

"Very well, thank you,"Tigerfrost responded to Shadowpaw, his eyes glittering with amusement at her respectful demeanor. "Good luck with your training. I'm sure you'll make a great medicine cat.'
With a final bow to the medicine cats, Tigerfrost padded off. He spotted Fireclan's new deputy and approached with a nod of greeting.
"Evening Sunflash, is prey running well in Fireclan?"

"Yea I'm alright,"Padpaw mewed in reply, getting to his paws and gave his pelt a brisk shake.
"Sorry about that, I seem to have a tendancy bumping into cats,"the black apprentice informed, though he didn't seem abashed by it.
"I'm Padpaw, and I'm gonna be the next greatest warrior in Fireclan,"the scruffy apprentice introduced with a laid-back tone.

Walldrop watched all the movement around the gathering. It was amusing to see all the clans mingling, when the next day, they could be clawing each others throats. He watched Appleblossom and Shadowpaw talk with Tigerfrost.
Walldrop got up off his haunches, and walked over to Tigerfrost and Sunflash.
"Hello Tigerfrost, Sunflash" He nodded briefly, keeping the stature a deputy should, but a friendly voice.

"Hello, you must be Walldrop,"Tigerfrost responded with a nod of his head. He had heard rumors of a new deputy that replaced Spottedstorm, the previous deputy of Moonclan.

"That would be me Tigerfrost, nice to meet you" Walldrop bowed his head in greeting.

Appleblossom whispered to Fireflower, "Did your leader lost her first life?"

Everpaw came in the clearing, feeling a little strange. Anyway, she saw Padpaw and Frostpaw as she padded over to them. "Do you see Lynxpaw, Cloverpaw, or Pandapaw?" Inside her head, she dreaded Fallowpaw coming to Gathering, but it was not her problem.

Scarletfang walked to a pair of FireClan warriors and sat with them. She did not say anything to them.

Lasspaw felt Everpaw, from her clan, over by the other apprentices. She paced over their to stand by Everpaw. "Hey there Everpaw, everybody" she nodded, though she would not see them reply.

"Cloverpaw?"Padpaw replied to Everpaw, his ear pricked as he recognized his denmate's name. "I think he came to the Gathering, I'm not sure. But if you're looking for a date with him, I have to advise that I'm much more suitable,"the scruffy apprentice informed with a grin.

Lasspaw scoffed at Padpaws confidence in himself. She lashed her tail in amusement.

Walldrop paced over near Appleblossom and watched the gathering, and waiting until it was time to acutally begin.

Everpaw wriggled her eyebrows at him, "Yeah, you are much better than Cloverpaw, handsome." She began to lick her paw softly, her silver eyes still on Padpaw. As she wiped her paw across her forehead like she was going to faint, she whispered playfully, "Where's Cloverpaw?" She saw her fellow clanmate, Lasspaw as she greeted her with a wink. "Hey, Lasspaw." Out of the corner of her eyes, she saw the shape of Lynxpaw coming toward her and the apprentices. She scorned her mockingly, "Greetings, mousebrain." Her lips lifted to a wicked grin.

Lasspaw leaned over slowly and whispered into Everpaws ear, "Lets try to keep peace at this gathering? If a fight breaks out from out group of apprentices, we may not be able to come to the next".. Lasspaw lashed her tail in a greeting to Lynxpaw.

Lynxpaw had noticed Everpaw and the Mistclan cat's greeting made her fur start to bristle.
"Hello Everpaw,"Lynxpaw greeted with a mocking, sweet voice, though her teeth were clenched tightly as if she was holding back a sharp retort.

"Wow, sassy,"Padpaw commented as he watched the she-cats from different clans approach each other. He didn't know why their furs were ruffled but he enjoyed the show.
"Er- Cloverpaw...he might be here now. Oh, there he is!"the black apprentice mewed, seeing his Clanmate padding over.

Everpaw almost forget that her clanmate, Lasspaw, can't see her wink. It was because she forget her disability from a distance. Her pretty eyes looked so strong and certain, like nothing bothered her. She butted her shoulder with a friend's greeting. She kept her mouth closed, but she whispered low to her, "Oh, please. If it is going to be a war, then Lynxpaw will be not able to beat me."

She looked up at Lynxpaw, her eyes full of amusement. "Relax. You look like a fox caught you in its jaws." Before any reactions spill out, she heard Padpaw's yowls. She looked up and saw him. "Cloverpaw!"

Lasspaw lashed her tail with satisfaction. Though she is against fighting, (only a little), she found this comment hilarious. Lasspaw leaned back over to Everpaw, "Im sure if I could see her, it would look like she stepped in mousedung" she murmured lowly. Lasspaw looked back over at Lynxpaw, not being able to see her, but thought it would be nice to show some fake interest int he fact. "What has your fur in a bunch Lynxpaw?" Lasspaw asked politely, her voice spewing with sarcasm and mock. She felt those hilarious angry ripples running off of Lynxpaw.

Lynxpaw glared at Lasspaw. She's never seen the apprentice before at the Gathering last time, so she assumed Lasspaw had just been made an apprentice.
Though the white eyes didn't seem to be particulartly trained on her, which made her wonder a little. But she pushed the curiousity away when the Mistclan she-cat opened her mouth
"I have to say you Mistclan cats,"the Dawnclan apprentice replied with a hiss.

"Now, now Lynxpaw. No need to be so mean to the pretty she-cat,"Padpaw meowed to the brown tabby, with a playful flick of his tail towards Lasspaw.

"You stay out of this you furball,"Lynxpaw spat back.

"Alright, alright. Relax, don't claw my head off,"Padpaw soothed, though his eyes were dancing with amusement.

"You're making it really hard not to,"Lyxnpaw muttered.

Lasspaw flicked her tail in amusement. "Lynxpaw, you may want to learn to control that temper, it can be a major hazard in your training" Lasspaw teased, as she placed her tail lightly on Padpaws back as a thankyou.

Everpaw's ears twitched with amusement. She whispered back to Lasspaw, "Thousands of times, trust me." She really enjoyed picking on the DawnClan apprentice, but she really should not. Who cares? Laughing at her thought, Everpaw's smile was a smug when Lasspaw gave wonderful, purrfect callbacks. Everpaw did not expect anything from this new, young apprentice who was only an apprentice for a moon. She has a good feeling that Lasspaw and her will be hilarious, good lifelong friends. "Lasspaw is right. You should really, really control your temper."

Lasspaw now curled her tail happily, looking at Lynxpaw. "I've heard, that you can lose your whole pelt from anger!" Lasspaw lied with fake horror. She was having too much fun with this, she would have to stop soon, though is was causing her alot of ill joy. She looked over at Lynxpaw, waiting for the inevitable back fire.

Revolutionstar gazed at all of the cats from the High rock he and all the of other leaders stood on. He was so proud of his clan mates. He gazed at Demonstar...he wasn't afraid of him...yet when he looked at him it made him want to spit.

"Now, now kitties" came an amused voice. Cloverpaw made his way to the other apperentices. He noticed Lasspaw, and her white eyes. Blind, he thought. He sat down next to Padpaw. "Sorry" he started with a flick of an ear. "I got caught up in the crowd and couldn't find you guys" He made a face. The air was stinking of the beginning of a verbal fight. "I'm not here for two minutes and now you guys go off again" As soon as the word 'again' came out, Cloverpaw regretted it. But hopefully, who would know they met recently?

Gingerpaw's eyes darted to and fro at the gathered cats. Finally, she was at a Gathering. She had been to a few already before but not within the last couple moons. She spotted an apprentice, about her size and age, and went to go say hi. What was his name? Snowpaw?...Icepaw? No..Frostpaw! Yes, that was it. "Hey, Frostpaw" she greeted.

Sunflash nodded at Tigerfrost then at Walldrop. He noticed also Haggarstar, Demonstar, and Revolutionstar. All that was missing was Twilightstar. (Whom I'm going to play if Darky doesn't get postin')

"This is not good idea," Everpaw murmured and glanced at other cats. Drawing a breath, she told them, "We have to meet somewhere else. Maybe tomorrow night."

Appleblossom moved away from Walldrop, not daring to glance at him and give him a friendly greeting. She was getting awfully immature about this. It was important for her to ignore the deputy...She looked up and met his eyes for a brief second before looking down, "Greetings, Walldrop." She meant the greeting as a polite hi, but there was a hint of sweetness to the way she spoke his name. When she realized that, she wished she took that back.

Haggarstar acknowledged Revolutionstar by dipping her head in respects. "Greetings, leaders."

Lasspaw sensed Cloverpaw, she did not know him, but hey, why not keep up a conversation? The young she-cat smiled lightly. "Again, eh?" she rubbed her paw against the dirt. She had no idea what they meant by that, but maybe it would be fun to find out. After all, she was just making friends with Everpaw, she didnt really want to mess that up.

Walldrop glanced over at Appleblossom, his stare lingering. "Hello Appleblossom.." he sighed. He was waiting for Twilightstar, so he could take his place beside him. Walldrop wanted to move closer to Appleblossom, but it just wasnt smart... She would push him away like an annoying kit for all he knows. Walldrop drooped his tail and backed away from Appleblossom, giving her some space.
